Fabregal scores determined victory in Gawler Cup
SOUTH Australian star Fabregal added another title to her rap sheet on Sunday night, scoring a tough victory in the Group 3 Gawler Cup over 531m.
Stepping well from box four, the Robyn Mackellar-trained bitch was able to push up underneath Marlow Brown (box seven) in the run to the first turn, striding to a clear lead down the back. Despite Marlow Brown's best efforts, he could not reel in the speedy Fabregal which stretched out to score by one and a half lengths in 30.63.
Marlow Brown battled on to finish second, with Zipping Quinsee (box three) running a top race back in third spot.
A daughter of Fabregas and Allinga Aye Jay, Fabregal has now won 27 of her 47 starts with a further 17 minor placings, while Sunday's winner's cheque took her career earnings to $143,985.
Among her wins is a dominant triumph in this year's Group 2 Queensland Futurity at Albion Park. Additionally, she has also run second in the Group 2 WA Oaks, third in the Group 3 SA Oaks and was a finalist in the 2016 Group 1 National Sprint Championship.
So so proud of our boy Zipping Quinsee!!
