10 Years For South Australian Tail “Chopper”

On Monday 9 February 2009 stewards opened and completed an inquiry following an incident that occurred in the kennel house at Angle Park on Monday 26th January 2009 which involved the greyhound Atomic Clock trained by Mrs. S Gray and was being handled by Mr. Burgess resulting in a portion of the greyhound’s tail being removed.

After taking evidence Mr. Burgess was subsequently charged with a breach of GRSA Rules Of Greyhound Racing R 86 which reads:

R86 A person (including an official) shall be guilty of an offence if the person-

  • (q) commits or omits to do any act or engages in conduct which is any way detrimental or prejudicial to the interest, welfare, image, control or promotion of greyhound racing.

Mr. Burgess pleaded guilty to the charge and as a result was disqualified by the stewards for a period of 10 years.
