All Eyes On Angle Park For 2011 Adelaide Cup Final – Adelaide Cup Tips And Preview

In what is arguably South Australia's premier night of greyhound racing, a big 12-event programme at culminates in the running of the 2011 Tattsbet.com Adelaide Cup Final. This 1 event has seen some of the very best chasers added to the honour roll in recent times, with the 2010 champion.

After a four keenly contested semi-finals, six dogs and two bitches are now looking to claim the $70,000 first prize after what has been a tremendous three week series.

The box draw has made things tough to predict, with the most reliable beginners drawn in awkward boxes. Still it's sure to be another great race with a mad dash to the first bend to get the big crowd going.

Group 1 Tattsbet.com Adelaide Cup Final – Race 8 – 9.25pm ACDST3>
1) Perfect Fancy – Darren McDonald
Ran 29.82 in winning its semi-final last week and can repeat the dose. This very classy greyhound has been given a real gift with box one, and with recent placings in the Hobart Thousand and Silver Chief series, Perfect Fancy has the ability to match it at Group 1 level. Can't afford to miss the start though, but if he can punch up and hold the lead around the first bend, the race may well be over.

2) – Oswald Chegia
What a bonus for S.A racing it would be if local hero Boozeroo could win. Ran second behind Penthouse in the semis in good time which secured her berth in the final. She is capable of running a first split in the 4.40's, and would need to do that in order to hold out her competitors, but whether she can perform against this company on the big stage has been a worry for a while. She will have crowd support and no-one handles Angle Park better than Boozeroo.

3) – Graeme Bate
Is there a feature event anywhere in the land without a Graeme Bate runner? Dyna Forte has been here before and tasted success for the master trainer, but it's a very big ask for him to beat these rivals. Not a quick beginner, this blue chaser will be doing all the work late, but may be spotting some classier opponents a large start. Adores the track however and may sneak a place a big odds.

4) – Kelly Bravo
The recent Silver Chief winner has taken his racing to a new level in the last month. Usually begins like a rocket but found Greywinds Doll too slick in the semi last week. Drawn better this time around, particularly when considering the dogs that are on his outside. They will have a hard time getting across this youngster and he must be considered amongst the top chances. Only concern for Kilty Lad is that he is yet to win at Angle Park from four attempts.

5) Dark Duo – Robin Harnas
Former Victorian who has been in Adelaide for around a month. Has had a wing on every paw since racing at Angle Park and is the only finalist to win both its heat and semi. Beat Octane Show by a whisker last week in a great dual, and will prefer the wider draw. Ran 29.69 from this box a fortnight ago and will be awfully hard to stop if leading down the back. Is strong and one of the few who may get away with camping just off the speed also. Definite chance if it can stay out of trouble around the first bend.

6) Octane Show – Darren McDonald
The second of the McDonald runners has been harshly treated with the box draw in this race. After winning the , the first step of this fawn dog hasn't been as good as it could be and there will no margin for error from box six. Penthouse drawn seven wants the rail and Dark Duo drawn five will stay wide meaning very little room for Octane Show. Even then crossing Kilty Lad and Perfect Fancy won't be easy. But you can't underestimate his previous credentials and will still be a live chance if settling a couple of lengths from the pace.

7) Penthouse –
Was a good semi-final win last week over Boozeroo in 29.76. Started from box four in that event and led all the way. Comes into box seven here which won't help the chances of this noted railer. Has won three of five at Angle but it would really surprise if Penthouse was to lead a field of this calibre from this draw.

8) Greywinds Doll – Tina Womann
Excellent Semi-final win in 29.75 followed a solid placing in the Interstate Challenge behind Symmetry who missed out. She had box two on both of those occasions and draws off the track in box eight here. On paper there looks to a mad dash for the lead, and being three or four wide at Angle Park is not the place to be. While definitely not lacking class, she often runs unplaced when not able to lead and that looks the likely outcome here

Reserves
9) – Darren Brown
Very good greyhound who needs a good draw and a clear run early. Will be in the market if gaining a start.
10) Bremerton Bale – Graeme Bate

Hasn't done much wrong this series but may lack the toe of his opponents. Will be long odds.

SELECTIONS – 1) Perfect Fancy 2) Dark Duo 3) Kilty Lad

Also on the bumper program is the running of the John Gray Memorial final, which looms as an excellent race with Simandou Express and Kalden Mayhem likely favourites.

An Open stake over 731m sees Bruce Lellman's youngster Honky Tonk Girl having her first look at the longer trip, against the mighty black star, Satanic Cash.

Also on the night there will be a wealth of entertainment for children, a free band, the hunnies will make a return and the big sky channel screen with be erected downstairs.
