Bunyip Gawler Gold Cup Heats Draw Hot Fields

The focus of racing shifts to next week for the running of the Bunyip .

At close of nominations, GRSA had received fifty nominations and will be running six heats. The heats will be run next Tuesday (11th), with the $25,000 3 Final on Sunday the 16th November.

In recent weeks we have seen a number of younger greyhounds starting to assert themselves at Open Grade level and a number of these will figure through the series.

The likes of Quinton Bale (recent SA Sprint winner), , Everlong Bale, , , represent some of the newer members to the ranks. They will take on the established order of , Emerley Carlos, Randle and .

Throw in Produce Stake winner Uncle Remus, which is trying to claim a $5,000 bonus by winning the double in 2008. Plus a supporting cast with plenty of depth making it an excellent series.

There will be a lot of competition for one of the eight final spots. All six heat winners and the fastest two second placegetters will qualify for the final.

The box draw will be conducted on track following the final race on Tuesday, at approximately 3.25pm.

Both meetings will have full Sky Channel and TAB coverage. The heat meeting will be run at normal Tuesday afternoon starting times, while the Final is a Sunday twilight fixture, commencing at 5.34pm.

The Bunyip Gawler Gold Cup is for decision at 7.35pm.

A will be conducted on final nightrun by Jim Jacques with the help of Todd Gray, with tickets just $10 per share.

Bookmaker, Peter Damarell has provided betting vouchers which will be distributed through a lucky book draw. Other prizes can be won, including wines donated by Cockatoo Ridge winery.

There will be free amusements for the children as well as an appearance by Santa Claus, who will have free gifts for all children. The kids can also meet some of the popular GAP greyhounds and GAP products can be purchased.

Patrons can enjoy live music throughout the meeting and will get a chance to meet our popular greyhound bunnies.

Entrance to the track for everyone on final night is by a gold coin donation to the Gawler Health Foundation, whose volunteers will be manning the gates. They will also be conducting other fundraising, with all proceeds going to the important community organisation.

The Gawler Greyhound Club is organising extra catering for the big crowd expected.
