Increased Nominations For SA Oaks And Derby

The 2009 Oaks begins next Wednesday, with 6 heats of the classic at . At close of nominations GRSA had 49 greyhounds entered. This is well up on last year's 5 heats with 35 nominations.

Local nominations are headed by Fairy Bower for Bosco Stamenkovic who has won her last 3 starts, the undefeated Boo's Polly for , Crystal Scull for Natasha Isaacson who has won 6 from 10 starts, Delta Foxtrot for Jan Jones who has won 6 from 11 starts and Emerley Belle for Peter Hurley who has won in 29.84 around the Angle Park circuit.

Interstate nominations are headed by for who made the 1 Sandown Cup Final, Dyna Obelia for who won the Puppy Classic, Chloe Allen for Steve Collins who won the SA and Jean Jeannie for Geoff Mitchell who has won 7 from 11 starts.

There will be 3 semi-finals run on Thursday night 24th September and the first 4 greyhounds from each heat will advance; The fifth & sixth placegetters will be declared as reserves for the semis. The Coffex Coffee Oaks Final is a event which carries prizemoney of $32,000 and the winner receives $21,500 The Final is on Thursday 1st October.

Take note that this meeting will be starting later than the normal Wednesday morning fixtures, with the first race due to jump at 11.52am. With the 6 heats GRSA will now be running a 10 race program at this meeting.
