The 2008 Oaks begins next Wednesday, with 5 heats of the classic at . At close of nominations GRSA had 35 greyhounds entered.

The locals are headed by Wilny Bale, which has clocked 29.86 at headquarters. Trainer also has , and , which are all capable of running sub 30 seconds, giving him a strong hand. Last night's Classic 2008 Prelude winner, Stellar Flare is an improver having had just a handful of starts for trainer .

She's Ruthless is a beautifully bred bitch that has had just the three starts for three wins and will be one to watch through the series. Little Poodle is also undefeated at her two starts and showed good improvement in the second win to run 30.19 at Angle Park. There will be 2 semi-finals run on Thursday night 25th September and the first 3 greyhounds from each heat will advance along with the fastest fourth placegetter. The other fourth placegetters will be declared as reserves for the semis. The Coffex Coffee Oaks Final is a 3 event which carries prizemoney of $30,000 and the winner receives $20,000 The Final is on Thursday 2nd October.

Take note that this meeting will be starting later than the normal Wednesday morning fixtures, with the first race due to jump at 12.14pm.
