Wilba Beast steals the show in 2016 Howard Ashton final

WILBA Beast stamped himself as one of the hottest pups in South Australia with an emphatic 29.66 victory in Thursday night's final at .

Jumping box three as the $3.60 second elect, the -trained sprinter shanghaied out of the boxes and was able to roll straight to the early lead over Paddy McBain (box two) and Team Roper (box six).

Heading through the pen and the white-rugged speedster continued to surge clear, bursting away from his opponents down the back to score by two lengths over a gallant Team Roper, with Paddy McBain filling the trifecta back in third spot.

Race favourite Harbormaster was unable to find the bunny in the early stages, posted wide throughout the majority of the race to finish sixth.

The victory made it 15 wins from 26 starts for Wilba Beast, a son of and Mighty Chaos, which only turned two years of age in February, with the black dog now boasting over $43,000 in prize money earnings.
