Ben Divirgilio Fined $500 For Detrimental Conduct
Offence : Conduct which was detrimental to the interest, image, control or promotion of greyhound racing.
Reports : Stewards on the 9 May 2014, conducted an Inquiry into an incident which occurred in the car park at the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association (The Meadows) on the 22 February 2014, following the running of the last race.
Stewards heard evidence from licensed trainers Mr. Ben Divirgilio and Rinaldo Divirgilio. Stewards also tendered transcripts of interviews from Ms Lyn Smith, Mr. Joe Borg, Mr. Glen Campbell and Ms Mandy Shaw.
After considering the evidence Stewards charged Mr. Ben Divirgilio with breach of GAR86(q), in that he did encourage an altercation to occur in the car park at the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association (The Meadows) on the 22 February 2014; which was detrimental to the interest, image, control or promotion of greyhound racing
Mr Divirgilio pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Stewards found Mr Divirgilio guilty as charged and fined him the sum $500.00.
