Talking breeding: Latest litters ready to rumble

THIS week’s review of litters selected from the NSW Whelping Report for the two weeks ending October 31 2015 starts with three litters by 2010 Golden Easter Egg winner, now successful sire, Cosmic Rumble (April 2007 Spiral Nikita x Spiritual Rumble) with 25 pups in the three litters, averaging 8.3.

The first of his three litters is five dogs and three bitches, registered by the Tracsan Racing syndicate from Cydal, from the beautifully bred bitch, Fancy Dasher (October 2010 Brett Lee x Sweet Fancy) whose dam is by Collision x Miss Fancy (Barneys Alarm* x Gay’s Fancy).

Fancy Dasher is from an outstanding litter, which included Fancy Amigo, Fancy Jill, Fancy Liza, Magic Fancy, Mucho Caliente, Oh So Sweet, Pretty Fancy and Sweet Cherry Pie.

Their dam, Sweet Fancy also has some very good winners on file from her other litters, whelped in January 2009 by Where’s Pedro, March 2012 by Larkhill Jo*, a second Brett Lee litter whelped in January 2013, then a December 2013 litter by Cosmic Chief, with a total of 33 named offspring from her five litters.

NSW whelping reportOn the track she raced 37 times for eight wins and 10 placings, doing most of her racing in New Zealand, after winning first up over 530m at Coonamble (31.17) with two follow starts she was off to NZ where she won five times over 527m at Auckland (30.63) and also won over 375m (21.44) and 457m (25.65) at Waikato.

COOTAMUNDRA breeder, Michael Hugo, has the second Cosmic Rumble litter, which is four dogs and five bitches from another beautifully bred bitch, (October 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x It’s A Chance) whose dam is by Collision x Aziz Osti (Fortified Speed* x Osti’s Belle).

She is from a handy litter, which included Abbie Claire, Chance Taken, Hug Me Hugo, Perfect Chance, Riley’s Chance, Unreal Chance and Wayne’s Chance, with their dam’s only other litter, whelped in August 2011 by Mogambo also producing winners.

Half A Chance raced 28 times for seven wins and eight placings, winning twice over 520m at Nowra (30.09), twice over 453m at Cowra (26.56) and twice over 440m at Canberra (25.18) where she also won over 310m (18.31).

She has had instant success as a brood bitch, with good winners from her first litter, whelped in January 2014 by Premier Fantasy*, including Elusive Chance, Extreme Chance, Notorious Chance, Rear Chance, Shifty Chance and Took A Chance.

JOSEPH Sciberras, from Horsley Park has the final Cosmic Rumble litter, which has six dogs and two bitches, from another very well bred bitch, Our Layla, (January 2010 Where’s Pedro x Simply Pettigo) whose dam is by Just The Best x Sunnyside Girl* (Trade Official x Advent Lady).

Our Layla is from a handy litter, which included Boston Bound, Fast Summer, Fluer De Pettigo, Hurricane Razor, Miss Louise, Simply Wonder, Tuscan Storm and Where’s Pettigo, with their dam’s only other litter on file, whelped in December 2007 by Bond, also produced some good winners.

On the track, Our Layla raced 38 times for eight wins and seven placings, winning three times over 520m at Wentworth Park (30.43), four times over 535m at Richmond (30.81) and also over 440 petres at Potts Park (25.75).

This is her second Cosmic Rumble litter, after she whelped the first in July 2014 which resulted in two dogs and seven bitches, after she had a litter of three dogs and five bitches by Take The Kitty in February 2013.

Two Grand litters

TWO litters on the list this by the 2010 Melbourne Cup winner El Grand Senor (April 2008 Where’s Pedro x Elgrando Gold) with 10 pups in the first of the two litters, registered by the Will Obey syndicate, from Silverdale.

The five dogs and five bitches are from the well bred bitch, Blow The Doh (March 2011 Addis Boy x Maggie Jacobs) whose dam is by Surf Lorian x Stressa (Bobniak x Always Royal).

Blow The Doh is from a handy litter which included, Chelsea Who, Gotcha Good, Groovy Andrew, How’s It Maggie, Lady Arabella, Maggie Addis and Take That, with their dam also having a July 2013 litter of three named on file, by Vee Man Vane, with one named in each of two other litters, whelped in November 2012 by Take The Kitty and May 2014 by Cape Hawke.

On the track, Blow The Doh raced 50 times for 11 wins and 18 placings, winning three times over 520m at Wentworth Park (29.91), three times over 515m at The Gardens (29.79) where she also won twice over 600m (34.93), and also won over 450m at Maitland (25.87), 515m at Gosford (29.79) and 618m at Richmond (35.80).

TOONGABBIE breeder, Dennis Donoghue, has the other El Grand Senor litter, which is three dogs and three bitches, from the very well bred bitch Closing Time, (March 2011 Premier Fantasy* x Eluthra) whose dam is by Most Awesome x Beuna Sarah (Hotshow Sam x Sarah Isle).

She is from a litter of four named, which included Doo Wop Hooligan, My Big Digger and Unorthodox, with their dam having winners on file from each of her four other litters, whelped in November 2009 by El Galo, July 2010 by Bombastic Shiraz, May 2012 by Cosmic Rumble and September 2013 by Magic Sprite.

Closing Time raced 50 times for 12 wins and 18 placings, winning four times over 520m at Wentworth Park (29.92), twice over 440m at Sale (24.99) twice over 535m at Richmond (30.77) and also over 457m at Goulburn (26.58), 400m at Warragul (22.52), 513m at Traralgon (29.86) and 525m at The Meadows (30.20).

According to my breeding records, she has one previous litter on file, one dog and three bitches, whelped in March 2015 by Cosmic Rumble so keep an eye out towards the end of the year.

Three Fabregas litters

NEXT we have three litters by the 2012 National Sprint Championship winner, Fabregas (October 2010 Bombastic Shiraz x Wicked Witch), with nine pups in the first litter, registered by Canterbury breeder, Zuzalla Pelka.

The five dogs and four bitches are from the beautifully bred bitch, Megsy Anna (October 2011 Where’s Pedro x Jacinta Bale) whose dam is by Fortified Rush* x Sunray Bale (Lansley Bale x Jindara Bale) and worth recalling, Jindara Bale is by the successful imported sire Grove Whisper* x Star Lee (Admiral Lee x Gleefullee).

Race A Chaser syndications

Megsy Anna is from a litter of four named which included, Graceful Miss, Rampart Lion, and Soviet Missile, with their dam also producing some handy winners from her four other litters, whelped in May 2009 by Spiral Nikita*, July 2010 and December 2012 by Mogambo, and May 2012 by El Grand Senor.

On the track, Megsy Anna raced 29 times for three wins and eight placings, winning over 520m at Wentworth Park (30.37) and 600m at Dapto (35.04).

MULLION CREEK breeder, Grant Miller, has the second Fabregas litter, which is four dogs and five bitches, from the very well bred, unraced bitch, Moonshine Lani (September 2011 El Grand Senor x Kiacatoo Pearl) whose dam is by History Lesson x Naughty Thoughts (Go Wild Teddy x Ready To Rain).

She is from a litter which included Boopa Louie, Dusty Moonshine, Mack Station, Moonshine Pearl, Moonshine Taylah, Moonshine Whippy and Wild Moonshine, with their dam also having considerable success from her other litters, whelped in December 2009 by Brett Lee and May 2012 by Collision, which included the outstanding sprinter Shakey Jakey.

Moonshine Lani has one previous litter on file, one dog and one bitch, whelped in November 2014 by Collision.

Grant Miller also has a litter of three dogs and four bitches on the list this week, by Bekim Bale (October 2009 Bartrim Bale x Amelia Bale) from the well bred bitch, Jayla Rogue (September 2009 Mandagery Man x Liza Kikita) whose dam is by Spiral Nikita x Chantilly Doll (Light Of Fire x Miss Fancy).

Jayla Rogue raced 39 times for six wins and 11 placings, winning over 535m at Richmond (30.89), 480m at Grafton (27.72), 506m at Lithgow (29.61), 600m at The Gardens (35.15) and 520m at Bathurst (30.09) where she also won over 618m (36.68).

JILLIBY breeder Beverly Sandes has the final litter by Fabregas, two dogs and three bitches, from the very well bred bitch Silver Bullet (April 2012 El Grand Senor x Macey) whose dam is by Big Daddy Cool x Proper Honey (Proper Tears x Lady Belron).

She is from a handy litter which included Kasey, Lollipop Cody, Luaki, Proper Glory, Proper Image, Remarkable Alice, Sofey and Tough Linc, with their dam’s only other litter on file, whelped in August 2013, by Fabregas, producing Davey, Defy Emotion, In The End, Jeanie, Katey, Kimmy, Lillipop Pop and Merly.

Silver Bullet raced 46 times for eight wins and 12 placings, winning twice over 280m at Wentworth Park (16.08), twice over 400m at The Gardens (22.82), twice over 301m at Coonamble (17.71) where she also won over 400m (23,26) and 330m at Richmond (19.09).

Victorian litters

Victorian Litter RegistrationsTURNING our attention to the Victorian Litter Registrations list for the week ending February 4, first up we have a beautifully bred litter of five pups by the New Zealand bred, Group 1 Hobart Thousand winner and outstanding stud prospect, Above All (July 2012 Magic Sprite x Kara Jinx) whose dam is by Fashion Thief (No Intent x Token Fever) from More Than This (Shining Kev x Little Girl Lost).

Registered by astute Wattle Flat breeder, Geoff Collins, the litter of two dogs and three bitches is from the imported bitch, Lucy Wires* (March 2011 Flying Penske x Okgo Box To Wire) whose dam is by Dominator x Struttin Dolly (Gable Dodge x Baez).

Lucy Wires won the Group 3 Sydney Cup at Wentworth Park and was placed three times at Group 1 level in a career which spanned 32 starts and resulted in 13 wins and nine placings, which earned connections just short of $130,000 in stakes.

She won four times over 720m at Wentworth Park (42.09), three times over 725m at The Meadows (42.14), where she also won over 600m (34.53), twice over 650m at Sale (37.51) and also over 715m at Sandown (41.88), 680m at Geelong (39.11) and 680m at Warragul (39.90).

This is her second litter, after she whelped a nice litter of six dogs and one bitch, by Mogambo, in January 2015, and I cannot wait to see the first of her offspring reach the track towards the end of this year.

Nine for Djay*

NEXT we have a nice litter of nine pups, registered by Toolleen breeder, Aaron Debattista, by the highly rated US sire Djays Octane* (December 2006 Flying Penske x One More Secret).

The four dogs and five bitches are from the beautifully bred bitch, Imani Bale (January 2010 Droopys Maldini* x Kumar Bale) whose dam is by Kiowa Sweet Trey* x Winfrey Bale (Golden Currency x Luana Bale).

She is from a handy litter which included, Aeron Bale, Bennett Glen, Bryn Bale, Destiny Flex, Duncey Bale, Emryst Bale, Gertrude Bale, Harold Bale, Jericho Bale and Kimba Bale.

Their dam, Kumar Bale has also produced good winners from her other litters, by Dyna Lachlan, Jarvis Bale, Surf Lorian, Turanza Bale and Where’s Pedro.

Imani Bale raced 79 times for four wins and 26 placings, winning three times over 525m at The Meadows (30.45) and also over 460m at Warragul (26.28).

She has two previous litters on file, one dog and nine bitches, whelped in March 2014 by Turanza Bale, then three dogs, whelped in January 2015 by Barcia Bale.

Kinloch litter*

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN breeder and great greyhound supporting sponsor, Ray Borda, from Mawson Lakes, has a nice litter of six pups on the list this week by the extremely successful US bred, Irish based sire, Kinloch Brae* (August 2005 Craigie Mo Town x Greys Free Style).

The two dogs and four bitches are from his beautifully bred, proven brood bitch, Aston Elite (December 2008 Bombastic Shiraz x Elite Oriental) whose dam is by Elite State x Oriental Angel (Knockabout Wok x Anniston) and it is worth rememberning, Anniston is by the US import, Fortified Speed x Goddess Of Fire (Light Of Fire x Tranquil Flame).

Aston Elite is from her dam’s first Bombastic Shiraz litter, which included Aston Clayton, Aston Elle, and Aston Galilee, with the repeat mating producing the October 2010 litter which included Ima Geisha Girl, Shanghai Rose, Sheza Pleaser, Transcend Time, Vehemently and Wong Way Suzie.

Elite Oriental has also produced winners from each of her other litters, whelped in July 2009 by Where’s Pedro, March 2010 by Pure Octane, November 2011 by Collision, and July 2012 by Made To Size, and has one named from a july 2013 litter by Outa Credit.

On the track, Aston Elite raced 51 times for 17 wins and 14 placings, winning ten times over 515m at Angle Park (29.95), three times over 531m at Gawler (30.79) where she also won over 400m (23.11), and won over 440m at Sale (25.12) and 536m at Strathalbyn (31.43).

She has three previous litters on file, five dogs and two bitches, whelped in August 2012 by El Galo, two dogs and three bitches whelped in September 2013 by Magic Sprite and two dogs and four bitches, whelped in December 2014 by Barcia Bale.

Lonesome* ten

OUR final litter for review this week is 10 pups by the beautifully bred, veteran US sire, Lonesome Cry* (June 2001 Gable Dodge x Jabberin Jackie) who has done well at stud here from limited opportunities.

Yambuk breeder, Ann Sinnott, has this litter of five dogs and five bitches, from the 2010 Group 1 Sandown Laurels winner, Up And Away (March 2009 Where’s Pedro x On Shore) whose dam is by Waterview Star x Bally Kay (Fitzroy Express x Springress).

Up And Go is from her dam’s first Where’s Pedro litter, which included Across The Drink, Another Jim, Boy It’s Sandy, Sure On Pedro, To Shore and We’re Sure, and in addition to winners from the second Where’s Pedro litter, whelped in December 2012, On Shore also has a very good March 2011 litter by Meticulous, her own successful January 2012 litter by Lonesome Cry*, then has four named, all winners from her most recent litter, whelped in September 2013 by Velocette.

Up And Away, who also won the Group 2 Ballarat Cup and Group 3 Great Chase, raced 52 times for 19 wins and 18 placings, winning five times over 525m at The Meadows (30.17), four times over 515m at Sandown (29.55), three times over 450m at Ballarat (25.23), twice over 460m at Geelong (25.42) where she also won over 520m (30.31) and twice over 450m at Warrnambool (25.17) with one win over 480m at Horsham (23.32).

She has four previous litters on file, five dogs and four bitches, whelped in May 2012 by Velocette, one dog and three bitches, whelped in March 2013 by Dyna Lachlan, three dogs and six bitches, whelped in January 2014 by Barcia Bale and four dogs and three bitches, whelped in November 2014 by Premier Fantasy*.

Victorian Metropolitan Sires list

THE Victorian Metropolitan Sires list for the two months to the end of February, shows Barcia Bale has skipped out to a 12 win lead over Cosmic Rumble, after his offspring won 26 races on Melbourne’s two city tracks during February, overtaking Cosmic Rumble, whose offspring won 11 races for the month.

Victorian Metropolitan Sires ListKinloch Brae* had another good month with eight wins, to hold down third spot, but the other big mover was Magic Sprite, whose 15 February wins takes him to fourth on the list, ahead of Dyna Tron who completes the top five.

Just outside the Top 20 on the Victorian list at the end of February, all with four wins but less placings, are Kilty Lad (4-5-3), Lochinvar Marlow (4-5-3), Razldazl George* (4-2-3) and Kelsos Fusileer* (4-2-2) followed on three wins each by Dyna Lachlan, Stagger, Cape Hawke, Nolen, Djays Octane*, Razldazl Jayfkay*, David Bale and Farley Turbo*.

NSW_Metro_Sires_listTHE NSW Metropolitan Sires list, covering all meetings at Wentworth Park for the two months to the end of February has also seen a turnaround, after Magic Sprite’s offspring won 15 races in February to take him to the top of the list, with 22 wins, six wins clear of Spring Gun, whose offspring won eight races for the month, taking him up to 16 wins.

Fabregas with 13 wins, Where’s Pedro with nine wins and Collision with seven wins complete the top five, whilst just outside the top 20, all with two wins each at the end of February, are , College Causeway*, Collide, Don’t Knocka Him, Head Bound*, Taylors Sky*, Bella Infrared*, Blazin Wildfire*, Bombastic Shiraz, Cape Hawke, Elite State, Fear Zafonic*, Kippy Kya, Mandagery Man and Tuiaki.
