Dyna Lachlan Set For Historic Double After MTD Australian Cup Box Draw
Group 1 Adelaide Cup winner Dyna Lachlan will be looking to achieve an historic Cup double after drawing box one in next Saturday's MTD Group 1 Australian Cup over 525 metres at The Meadows.
The son of Go Wild Teddy and Benden Flex is one of three runners for Anakie trainer Andrea Dailly, also training MTD Australian Cup finalists Dyna Obelia (Dyna Lachlan's litter sister) and Manuel Bale. Dyna Lachlan won the last of the eight semi finals in 30.06, but it is his 29.79PB and favourable draw that makes him the greyhound to beat in the $150,000-to-the-winner final.
If victorious, Dyna Lachlan will push his prizemoney to $434,555 – less than $100,000 away from Rapid Journey's Australian prizemoney record. The black chaser does not turn three till July this year.
Fastest heat winner Birthday Boy – who ran a sizzling 29.71 off box six – will be out to spoil the party, jumping from box eight in the final. And, as always, there is an abundance of early speed in the final, which will ultimately shape the race in that all-important run to the first turn.
Queenslanders will be cheering for the flying High Earner (box five), who led all the way to win in 29.92 in the first of last Saturday's semi finals, while Group 1 Hobart Thousand winner Prankster (box four) and Galba Jack (box two) are blessed with enough early speed to lead the quality field.
The Meadows – which offers free entry to all patrons this Saturday night – will come alive with guest appearances from Melbourne Victory striker Archie Thompson and Melbourne Vixens star Bianca Chatfield.
The night will also be host to a live band, a $5000 Big Bucks Competition, a celebrity Mower Race, Camp Australia Entertainment for kids, free showbags and bonus mystery bets.
