Training Trio Chase $10,000 Pay Day
Three trainers are hoping for a $10,000 pay day at Sale on Sunday. Angela Langton (Anakie), Alisdair Armstrong (Huntly) and Chris Johannsen (Devon Meadows) are attempting to hit pay dirt in the Gippsland Sale Oaks (440m) and Joe Rossin Memorial Sale Derby (440m). Both carry a $5000 winner's cheque.
Armstrong has Dancing Lights in the Oaks and her litter brother Over Speeding in the Derby. In a heat of the Oaks a week earlier, Dancing Lights clocked a scintillating 24.54sec – only one length off the 24.48sec track record, set by Brilliant Lee on August 28, 2005.
Johannsen has Joe's Lexi in the Oaks and Break The Ice in the Derby.
Meanwhile, Bo Frazier – a younger half-brother of 2006 Australian and Victorian Greyhound of the Year Betty's Angel – is pre-post favourite for the $3000-to-the-winner T.L. Davidson Memorial (650m).
Prepared by David Geall, of Lara, Bo Frazier smashed the Warrnambool 570-metre track record on April 30 this year. He semaphored a stunning 32.70sec.
Local mentors Anthony Tabone (Nambrok) and William McMahon (Darriman) have two-pronged attacks in the Davidson Memorial.
Tabone has litter sisters Smurf's Time Out and Smurf's Dream, while McMahon has Doctor Abbey and Pointman.
Group race king Darren McDonald, of Devon Meadows, has the superbly bred Sirocco Gold in that event and Shanlyn Pedro in the Derby.
