Darren Murray’s Good Run Set To Continue At Ballarat Tonight

Napoleons trainer Darren Murray will be hoping for another double on Thursday’s ten race twilight program at Ballarat.

Murray’s kennel has been on fire lately. His main chances on the program will be Pure Conquest and Splat.

Murray is using the Lion Quality Products Free For All over 450 metres as a lead up race for Pure Conquest in his quest to take out the Ballarat Cup in December.

Pure Conquest has been racing in great heart, and last week recorded her fastest ever time over the race distance.

She will jump from Box 7 in her quest to improve on her already excellent race record of 18 wins from 46 race starts.

“She is going as well as she has raced in her career at the moment.” Murray said.

“If she can lead today she will be very hard for the opposition to run down.”

Murray believes that the main dangers will be Elite Currency from Box 1, and Young Ravello from Box 2.

Elite Currency is a very strong dog who runs home hard in his races. He was a smart 5 length winner at Warrnambool last week over the race distance.

Young Ravello is a young dog who has plenty of natural ability.

Young Ravello has not been successful from this box draw as yet, but will certainly be in the finish if he is able to get a clear run in the race.

Meanwhile, Splat will contest the 103.1 Power FM Maiden Final also to be run over 450 metres.

Splat was ultra impressive in his debut win for the kennel when he ran over the top of the opposition to record a 2.25 length victory last week.

He has the added advantage of the coveted Box 1 draw.

“He’s a real improver who received checks in running in last week’s heat, but was still able to get up and win.”

Murray believes that the son of Collide has the ability to go on to city class races in the future.

“He is well bred and should get more distance as he matures.” he said.

Hardest to beat will be the Terry Breen trained Belena Haze from Box 8, and the Peter Lambert trained Pause And Lose from Box 2.

Belena Haze and Pause And Lose both led all of the way in their heat wins last week, with Belena Haze recording the quickest heat winning time.

Murray’s other runners on the program are debutante Sir Echo in Race 2, Boomer Harvey in Race 3 and Grand Conquest in Race 5.
