Dream It And Xylia Allen Lead The Way In McKenna Memorial Heats

Australia’s Queen of the loam Xylia Allen will line up as favourite in another Group final next week after she ran the second fastest time in the heats of the Group Two McKenna Memorial at Sandown on Thursday night.

The Jenny Hunt trained daughter of Turanza Bale and Tayah Bale (Droopys Vieri – Francesca Bale) overcame early trouble to finish powerfully from box eight and overhaul Searle Bale in the time of 34.18 to win the fifth heat.

The multiple Group One winner and eight time track record holder has drawn box one for next weeks final and is sure to start at a very short quote.

The Brooke Ennis trained Dream It showed that he is a genuine contender for the $40,000 first prize when he led all the way in the final heat in the fastest of the six heats.

Jumping swiftly from box four, the son of Bartrim Bale and Ondina Bale (Collision – Maple Bale) led all the way to score in the time of 34.17 from Mepunga Tiara who also qualified for the final.

Earlier in the night, ultra consistent bitch Tarks Nemesis (7) finished too strongly to land the first heat at the juicy odds of $7.90.

The Angela Langton trained daughter of Velocette and Skrat (Big Daddy Cool – Dash Of Burgundy) stopped the clock at 34.29 when she overhauled early leader Cosmic Wise to reach her third Group final this year.

Great Spartacus dug deep to take out the second heat in an all-the-way effort for Lovely Banks trainer Kelly Bravo. The striking fawn son of Dyna Lachlan and Runway Model (Larkhill Jo – Steffi Grace) made the most of his early toe from box one and found plenty at the finish to stave off Ralphy Cinel (8) and win in the time of 34.35.

Angela Langton qualified her second runner for the final when Heidi Go Seek won the third heat by the barest of margins. After racing second for the bulk of the event the daughter of Talk’s Cheap and Ceejay’s Vixen (EJ’s Douglas – Advert) timed her run to perfection to score right on the line from Hawk Alone (3) in 34.45.

The fourth heat went the way of Musquin Bale for Andrea Dailly. The son of Dyna Lachlan and Princess Bale (Hallucinate – Gold Rush Bale) began well from box six to lead throughout and hold off the efforts of the fast finishing My Bro Fabio to win in the time of 34.29.
