Fine Only For Procaine Positive In Victoorian Greyhound

Following advice from Racing Analytical Services Laboratory, the of Greyhound conducted an investigation into the results of a urine sample taken from the greyhound Gold Affair Two at the GRC meeting held on 17th November, 2011.

During the investigation, Stewards heard evidence from registered Trainer – Mr. Martin Hanke, and received written statements from Dr. John Vine (Racing Analytical Services Laboratory) and Dr. ( Veterinary Clinic).

After considering the evidence, Stewards charged Mr. Hanke with breach of Rule 83(2) and (3) in that he did fail to present the greyhound ‘Gold Affair Two' free of any prohibited substance for an event at the Geelong GRC meeting on 17th November, 2011 given that the urine sample taken from the greyhound indicated the presence of the prohibited substance .


Mr. Martin Hanke represented himself.

Mr. (GRV Chief ) represented the Stewards . Mr. Hanke pleaded not guilty to the charge.

After hearing all the evidence tendered, the RADB found Mr. Martin Hanke guilty as charged and fined him the sum of $500 to be suspended for a 12 month period pending no further breaches under GAR83.

Acting under GAR83(4), the RADB also disqualified Gold Affair Two from Race 4 at the Geelong GRC meeting held on 17th November, 2011 and amended the placings accordingly.
