Foot Luce And Fancy Free At Sandown On Thursday Night
On Thursday night at Sandown Park, three of the Vapour Whirl – Foot Luce (Hallucinate – Scarlett) litter will feature in Group finals.
Oakvale Flyer and Oakvale Destiny will be rugged up for the Group One Sapphire Classic and Texas Titan will jump from box one in the Group Two Harrison-Dawson.
The litter was whelped on 10 July 2012 and bred by the Wilson-Trowbridge Racing Syndicate. The three finalists are all owned by Nathan Wilson.
The dam of this talented litter was a bitch by the name of Foot Luce, who faced the starter six times for just one win, which was at Angle Park in a moderate 30.63. Foot Luces's dam, Scarlett, won just four races from 51 starts. Hotshow Sarah is the dam of Scarlett. When we get to Hotshow Sarah's dam, you can see why the line has produced. Hotshow Deb is the dam of Hotshow Sarah. Hotshow Deb was the Victorian Broodbitch of the Year in 2000 and has produced multiple Group winners. Her offspring include No Intent, Hotshow Vintage, Sideshow Lad, Delicate Deb and Banzini. Hotshow Deb is a litter sister to Sobbing Sal, the dam of the great Brett Lee.
The Vapour Whirl litter is Foot Luce's first and her daughters Oakvale Destiny and Oakvale Flyer are no strangers to Group racing. They both made the final of the recent Group Two Bogie Leigh Futurity in Queensland and finished fifth and fourth respectively in the final.
Thursday night's finalists are all trained by Jeff Britton. ARG had the opportunity to speak to co-trainer Angela Langton about each of the greyhounds chances and you can check out her comments in ARG's detailed previews of the Sapphire Classic and Harrison-Dawson finals.
The litter doesn't turn two until July, so they have plenty of racing in front of them. They have made Group finals at a young age, which is a remarkable achievement. Langton told ARG that these greyhounds will eventually step up in distance. Based on their racing styles we may even see better once they race over the middle distance and staying trips.
