He Knows Uno Headlines AWM Distance Championship Heats

Recent Gold Cup winner He Knows Uno heads a quality line-up of chasers in two heats of the at over 725 metres on Saturday night.

Trained by Mick Patterson, the son of and Honeymoon's Over is racing in career-best form, winning his last six starts, including that famous Group 1 win over at on June 14.

The black chaser – winner of over $377,000 – will start from a favourable box eight draw in the first heat. His rivals include the brilliant (box seven), who recently claimed the Group 2 in a race record time of 33.99 at Sandown Park, and Group 2 Queensland Oaks winner Katie Merry, who steps up to the half-mile journey for the first time in her 32-start career.

In the second heat, – already a Group winner at The Meadows after taking out the Rookie Rebel in February – will be the greyhound to beat after a super 41.92 win at Sandown Park last start. The son of Where's Pedro and Elektra will start from box seven, and will take on the likes of track specialist Fyna Bale and up-and-coming stayer Arising.

The first four past the post in the two heats will qualify for Saturday week's final, this year worth $40,000 thanks to the recent prizemoney increases implemented at The Meadows.

The July 28 climax will be a fantastic night of racing, and will also include the $100,000-to-the-winner Group 1 Hudson Pacific Maturity Classic. Lots of prizes will be on offer for those on course on Grand Final night, including a home-theatre package, pamper packs for the ladies, children's bikes and dinner packages in The Meadows' upstairs dining room.
