Terry Moore Disqualified For 16 Months For Ritalin Positive
Commonly used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Ritalin is a central nervous system stimulant with very similar effects to those seen with the administration of amphetamines in the nature and duration of its effects.
GRV Stewards heard evidence from Mr. Terry Moore (Trainer), Mr. A. Mills (GRV Steward), Dr. J. Vine (RASL), Dr. A. Smith (Veterinary Surgeon) and an unlicensed person.
After hearing the evidence, Stewards charged Mr Terry Moore with breach of GAR83(2)(3), as operating in 2008, in that he did fail to produce the greyhound “Arcane Lass” free of any drug for an Event at the Sale GRC on 26 October 2008, given that a pre-race urine sample taken from the greyhound indicated the presence of the drug Methylphenidate and its metabolite Ritalinic Acid.
Mr. Terry Moore pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Stewards found Mr. Terry Moore guilty as charged and disqualified his licence for 16 months (commencing midnight 31 January, 2009).
Stewards also disqualified Arcane Lass from Event 10 at the Sale GRC on 26 October, 2008.
