Thomas Has Edinburgh Logan Keyed In For Success

Skipton trainer Alf Thomas admits that he has had trouble working out what makes his chaser Edinburgh Logan tick.

“She is a quick dog, but somehow she finds a way of getting beaten in her races.” Thomas said.

A trainer in excess of forty years, Thomas now hopes he has found the key to his chaser by keeping her fresh for her races.

Edinburgh Logan for the WIN TV Maiden Final to be run over 390 metres with an impressive six length victory.

By local greyhound Vapour Whirl out of the dam Sophia Lee, Edinburgh Logan has two qualifying trial victories to her name, which have both come from Box 8.

She has drawn favorably in Box 7 for the final, which should assist her in breaking through for a well deserved maiden victory.

Edinburgh Logan ran second in a maiden final in December, but sustained a shoulder injury in the race.

Thomas said that she is now over that injury and that “she looks good and should run a forward race in the final.”

“She's a quick beginner and is strong at the end of her races. Hopefully she can get a clear run in the race”

The main dangers in the race appear to be Lucky Tich and Rufus Rex.

Lucky Tich for Bannockburn trainer had his first start in the qualifying trials, going on to record a three length victory.

The Stately Bird pup is sure to be improved by that race experience, and is sure to be primed for the final.

The trained Rufus Rex is also new to the track, and qualified for the final with a twelve length victory at only his second track outing.

Meanwhile, there are also six heats of the Greyhound Grade 5 Breeders Series on the twelve race program.

The series always attracts a number of smart greyhounds which should ensure some hotly contested heats.

The six winners and two fastest seconds from the heats will go through to the final to be run next Wednesday night.
