Vee Man Vane All The Rage At Ballarat
Vee Man Vane, the reigning Ballarat Cup title holder makes his long awaited return to Ballarat on Wednesday night.
From the Lara kennel of Jamie Ennis, the well performed Vee Man Vane will contest the Gatorade Free For All over 450 metres.
Vee Man Vane has been in sensational form, having saluted the judge in five of his last seven race starts.
The super chaser has shown that he has an affinity for Ballarat, having won all of his three starts at the track and distance.
But it has not been all plain sailing for Vee Man Vane throughout his career, as he has had to overcome a number of injuries.
“He has had operations on his legs which have curtailed what we can do with him.” Ennis said.
“To overcome this we race him sparingly and give him a break between his races.”
The son of Solve The Puzzle has defied the experts as he can still produce some sensational race splits, which shows the class of the super chaser.
But Vee Man Vane will have to be on his game though, as the field has some very well performed chasers.
“We would have preferred an outside box draw, but he has the ability to lead the field and then it's up to the others to catch him.”
The field also includes Bounding Billy and Sisco Cruise who contested the 2008 Cup, as well as the veteran North Sea who contested the 2007 Cup.
Like Vee Man Vane, Bounding Billy also has an impeccable record at the track.
The Maureen Turner trained Bounding Billy has won six of his nine race starts, with one of those in the sizzling time of 24.88 seconds for the 450 metres.
If he can reproduce that effort he will be right in the finish of the race.
Sisco Cruise has been racing consistently of late, but has run his best races when drawn close to the rails, whilst North Sea has been struggling to regain his best form.
Ennis will also be looking to make it a double on the twelve race program with kennelmate Jerry the Jet.
Jerry the Jet has won eight of his nineteen race starts to date, and will take on a handy field in the Bombastic Shiraz at Stud Grade 4 over 450 metres.
By Hallucinate, out of the dam Malawi's Marina, Jerry The Jet is generally quick out of the boxes.
Six of his eight race wins have come from inside boxes, so his Box 2 draw is ideal.
“He's a fast dog. With some early luck in running he should be a good chance in the race.”
Hardest to beat will be the Heather Collins trained Sisco Cool from Box 4, and the Andrea Dailly trained Firefly Bale from Box 8.
