Victoria Announces Thirteen More Noms For Vic GOTY
Thirteen third-round nominations, along with six first-round and three second-round selections, are being considered for the 2008 Victorian Greyhound of the Year.
The ‘baker's dozen' (10 male, three female) – recently nominated by a GOTY panel – are (in alphabetical order): All Caution, Birthday Boy, Hanify's Impact, Keeko Bale, Kendale Bale, Mantra Lad, Nitro Burst, One Tree Hill, Sky Hazzard, Surgeon, Trew Millions, Turanza Bale and Velocette.
Four of the 13 have won a Group 1 race this year – Mantra Lad (National Distance Championship), Nitro Burst (Vic Peters Classic), One Tree Hill (Paws of Thunder) and Surgeon (Melbourne Cup).
The latest list of GOTY nominees have joined first-round nominations – El Galo, Gunnadoo Magic, Regal Thyme, Sonador, Tasman Queen and Whippy's Image – and second-round nominations – Hybrid Theory, Just Friends and Paddy's Flame – as candidates for the state's ultimate accolade.
The 2008 Victorian Greyhound of the Year awards – with “A Step Back In Time” theme – will be announced at a gala ceremony, to be held at the palatial Crown Entertainment Complex on February 6, 2009.
