Plenty Of Speed In Entertaining WA Young Stars Classic Final

The final of the 3 W.A will be held this Saturday night, with $22,500 going to the winner. Local chaser will head into the race as fastest qualifier, but a host of other dogs appear to have winning chances in what should be a frantic race early.

Rock Pool looked the pick of the heat winners, and after darting left at boxrise and copping a check, was still able to find the lead and race away. His winning time of 30.18 was clearly the best of the night. With a clean run from box four, he looks likely to make it his second Group victory of the year for trainer Ben Abercrombie.

Trying to stop that from occurring will be two Victorian visitors in Tonelli Bale and . will prepare Tonelli Bale for the final, after his surprise victory over Bramley in 30.59. This week's final looks harder however, and drawing box seven will do him no favours, particularly as it relied on a rails run after beginning only fairly last week.

On the contrary, Kilty Lad for Kellie Bravo will relish a rails draw, and looks to be right in the race after making it four wins straight. His heat time of 30.46 looks a little pedestrian when compared to Rock Pool's run, but Kilty Lad had to the hard way by running down Barry McPherson's runner, Where's A Dancer, who itself has come up with box eight.

Reader's of this website last week would have noted that Booming Action was giving a good chance at odds in its heat, and that rang true after he managed to score at juicy odds of $13.90. Going from box six to box four this week, this beautifully bred son of Slater and Edie Beachamp could again prove to be the knockout dog, or at least provide some value for the multiples.

's kennel is constantly pulling winners, and Lorenzo continued that success by making a Group race final at start number seven. Using box one beautifully last week, Lorenzo is another who can show great speed early, and could well make life hard for those more accomplished runners around him.

Rounding out the field are the two runners who via the final heat. Black Wolf was very impressive in his lead-all-the-way 30.41 win from box three in that event. Raffles chased hard the entire trip and did enough to give Ben Abercrombie a two-pronged attacked for the final. Both dogs began well but the top speed of Black Wolf proved a bit too much in the run to the line.

Overall the race looks very even on paper behind the deserved favourite Rock Pool. The first turn will be all important as every dog has decent box manners. Obviously they can't all be up near the front, so it may simply be a case of who gets the breaks at the right time.

The Final will be race 5 on the program, scheduled at 8.33pm local time.
