Sveta Monelli Is A WA Star

Sveta Monelli continued her winning streak by taking out the over 530 metres for trainer David Hobby.

In a field that had talent jumping from every box, Sveta Monelli used her second consecutive box one to lead the race from start to finish in a quick 30.38.

WA's magic man finished second after walking out of the boxes and finding trouble early. From box six he left his run home too late, missing out on the victory by half a length.

Cup winner Te Amo was always in with a chance after crossing early from box eight to sit second for the majority of the race. Once On Coin changed gears she found herself in third place.

The early scratching of 's Gomes saw De Wade for start from box two. After jumping second with Sveta Monelli, Mandurah star De Wade faded in the later stages, holding off a late lunge by Linda Britton's Just Tripping.

Unfortunately as Sam's Sionara went to make her run up the back straight, she injured herself and failed to finish the race. With the vet concluding a broken metatarsal, Sam's Sionara looks to have motherhood on the cards after her recovery.

Racking up her 15th win, Sveta Monelli held off On Coin and doubled her winnings to over $80,000. A win, win for trainer David Hobby.
