2024 National Straight Track Championship: Sheezel odds plunge shakes betting
The incredible betting moves on the 2024 Group 3 National Straight Track Championship final have continued this morning with one runner now less than a quarter of the price that was on offer previously.
On Thursday, August 22, we reported that the money had come for Cash On Delivery to win the $28,000-to-the-winner final on Saturday morning, August 24, with the SA greyhound backed in to be a +160 favourite.
Greyhound punters and online bookmakers alike will be waking up to greyhound betting odds on the race this morning that have seen Queensland representative Sheezel, plunged in from odds of +4000 to a fraction of that price.
Sheezel, who was a narrow second in the QLD National Straight Track Championship behind Hara’s Buddy, has had 10 straight track race starts for five wins and five placings.
The Brent Kline-trained greyhound trialled solo up the Murray Bridge Straight over 350 metres and ran 19.32 at his first look at the track.
The trial was so competitive compared to other finalists that trialled the same day, that the son of Beast Unleashed and Isla’s Story is now paying just +900 at the best Australian greyhound betting sites.

In addition to the move for Sheezel in the National Straight Track Championship final, Express Ethics has continued its hot and cold attraction with greyhound punters.
The sole NSW representative, Express Ethics, drifted early from his opening quote of +200 to get out to +250, before being backed in again to +220 on Thursday, August 22.
Greyhound bookmakers could not write a bet at that price for the David Smith-trained greyhound, and despite having the advantage of box one, Express Ethics has now drifted back out to be the third favourite at +340.
Like the other greyhounds that had previously seen wild fluctuations, Express Ethics did not trial up the Murray Bridge Straight.
Those two moves have necessitated small tweaks around the prices of most of the rest of the field.
Hara’s Buddy has remained steady at +550.
Zipping Gryllis tightened up slightly from +600 to +550, but did open at +380
Mile A Minute has remained as the +300 second favourite.
SA National Straight Track Champion So Be It continued to tighten up in betting from being +1500 at one point to now be an +1000 chance.
Myall Ray has remained at his rough quote of +5000.
The race favourite for the Group 3 final, Cash On Delivery, drifted only slightly from +160 out to +180.
