Plugger Banquet surprising many to back up his win last week over a classy fifth grade field, taking out the Toledo Trailers Stakes over heavily backed Roughead and Miss Meek.
Bomba Banquet making the most of the red box, and proving he warranted the even money favoritism, stepping the best of the field and beating home Molly Ross and Jacobite Terra in 18.08 in the following event.
Canberra trainer Jason Platts having a mixed day, the highlight coming when Whip It Up took out the first of the Kilcoyne Kennels Maiden heats over 530 metres.
The smaller field ensured that the Bombastic Shiraz x Rosey Rita bitch was able to cut to the rail at the first turn and kick away winning by 9 ¾ lengths over Miss Reblee and Weston Boe.
Platts’ breeding all placegetters in the first heat, and with kennel mate Top Class Angel sneaking into the final after finishing fourth in the second heat will have breed half the starters in the final.
Long odds winner Garland Queen taking out heat two of the Kilcoyne Kennel event, ahead of first starter Vane Man and Rising Puzzle.
The winner of this weekends final taking home $800 and free break in service thanks to Robert Stewart.
Having paid in the order of $50 the win at Bulli last week, Dale Hall would have been hoping even half those odds would have been on offer on Sunday, sadly odds on was all he was going to get.
The Red Fawn dog taking advantage of the eight box to stay out of trouble early and sweep around the field winning by 7 and ¾ lengths ahead of next best Classy Asset for Bronwyn Peck and Medellin for Tia Hillsley.
In an impressive run behind Azam last week Ian McFarlane’s Albino Charlton knocked over his Maiden on Sunday with an 18.03 win, $3.40 with ACTTAB a long way over what was available on course.
McFarlane’s claiming a treble for the day when Suffocate continued it’s exceptional form over 530 metres, before Bungala Bale charged home over kennel mate Rechargeable in the non grade 440 metres.
Roy Clewett’s Klondike Mike started favourite in the final event, however it was kennel mate Tahu Dreaming that took home the winners purse, Five Bucks and Highland Breeze rounding out the placings.
With three meetings to go for 2008, we remind owners and trainers that the Canberra meeting on the 14th December (Non TAB) will commence at 3.30pm to assist traveling trainers, hope to see you all soon.
