Pro Trainers To The Fore At Canberra Greyhounds

It was hard for anyone else to get a look in on Sunday evening as trainers Jodie Gilbert and claimed five and two wins respectively over the 11 race card.

Gunning trainer Gilbert picking up the early running double when Cool Aussie pulling off a big dividend win over the sprints in the first before, got his own way early and went on to kick away in the Cup prelude in a very smart 30.37 over kennelmate Buckle Bunny and McFarlane's Millefiori.

The Gilbert kennels striking again in race 8, , stepping well early to lead all the way in 30.90, becoming the first leg of the trainers second running double of the night, with Cawbourne Bolt finishing too strong for Midnight Theory in a solid 17.90 performance.

Gilbert's final winner for the evening coming in the last when Sticky Boots impressed with it's “race smarts” to weave early and position in second going down the back, the white and black dog making his move in the straight to beat Izmir's Honour by a head in 25.56.

Jerrawa trainer Ian McFarlane opened his account in race 4 with maiden finally able to break through after drawing up against smart up and comer Osti's Grace in the last two weeks.

Sunday night was finally Summarise's time to shine, going 7.63 early and kicking away to post a four length win over Cawbourne Biggen in 17.98.

Returning from a two week spell McFarlane's other winner for the evening, Trimtex was crunched hard on start time as the red brindle dog tumbled from $13 into $4.

Where there was smoke there was fire, the Cool x Crash Lady two year old getting a nice cart across on the outside of Cawbourne Lorna, taking the lead at thee 600's to win in 17.99 and book his place in next week's final.

The Yass Valley producing another winner for the evening with ' leading all the way over the 530 to win by five lengths over Vapour, Izmir's Warrior coming in third.

The other three races saw traveling trainers go home with the money with wins to Murray Var Flyer, Marungi's World and Wagtail Mal.

This weekend sees the final over the Lockwood Dog Floats 5th grade sprint, while top graders make their way to the Nation's Capital for the Climate Doctor Cup and Anytime Fitness Cannonball heats.

A reminder that Canberra will be hosting GRNSW officials on Cup final night – 13th September – for owner/trainers, attendants and trainers to renew their licences, with free entry to current licence holders on presentation of their ID's at the gate.
