Greyhound racing's leading ladies will converge on Sandown Park this Thursday night for the heats of the $72,500 Solo .

The 40 greyhounds contesting the heats have combined to win over $2.4 million in prizemoney, and include five individual 1 winners.

will attempt to become the first greyhound since Paua To Burn to defend her crown, while will attempt to emulate Paua To Burn's 2004 feat of completing the Group 1 Laurels-Sapphire Crown Classic double and collect the $10,000 bonus on offer if successful.

Betty's Angel, who completed the 2006 Sapphire Crown- double, is seeking her fourth Group 1 success and will be joined by litter-sister Miss Mini Mouse, who has won three of her five starts since returning from a 10-month lay off.

was runner up in 2007 and will be looking to go one better in 2008. Robert Britton's four-year old has been racing in career best form of late, taking out the Group 1 earlier in the month before running a gallant third in Saturday's Group 1 at The Meadows.

Exciting Western Australian sprinter Miss Slick and Queensland speed machine Queen Lauryn will also take their place in the heats.

The first heat off the Solo Sapphire Crown will be run at 8.28pm and kicks off the Sandown quaddie. The boxdraw for the final will be conducted on-course after race 10 and will be available on www.sandowngreyhounds.com.au from 10.30pm.

The $50,000 to the winner final will be conducted on Thursday 6 November 2008.
