Dyna Lachlan Get McDonald’s Support For Paws Final

Leading Victorian trainer favours Dyna Lachlan to win Saturday's $100,000 NCA Paws Of Thunder final over the 520 metres.

McDonald just missed out on the final with fastest heat winner which finished third in its semi final from box 4 behind .

McDonald said Cosmic Rumble needs a wide box and would have been very competitive in the final with the right draw.

While he might be seen as a bit biased McDonald said Victoria should run the quinella, “ should run second,” he said.

“Dyna Lachlan has drawn the right box, he's a good dog with good sectional – he is strong and a very promising young dog,” he said.

In assessing the chances in Saturday's other race, the $25,000 Group 2 Pages Hire 720 metres, McDonald said Graeme Bate, with four runners including the favourite Amity Bale, has a stranglehold on the race.

“But the pink (Reign Over Me) has some hope – it was impressive in the heat,” McDonald concluded.

With these two exciting features and a strong supporting program on Saturday, a night of greyhound racing beckons. There's also the chance for patrons to win an LG 42” HD Plasma television in the big Tooheys Promotion simply by purchasing any selected Tooheys beer and entering into the draw.

Deputy Executive Officer Jeff Browne said the draw will be conducted after race 9 on the night and to claim the prize the winner must be on the premises.

“The Tooheys promotion is a for patrons on a night of top shelf greyhound racing.

“Race goers will also be entertained in between races with the highly talented vocalist Michael Vaiasinni (Schools Spectacular) performing after races 1, 3 and 5 as well as performing the National Anthem prior to the running of the NCA Paws Of Thunder.

“Gates open at 5.30 pm, entry is $5.50 adults, children under 18 are free and there's plenty of parking adjacent to the track,” Browne added.
