Give You Credit Wins The 2014 Group Three Gold Coast Cup

Queensland trainer Peter Ruetschi continued a great 2014 when Give You Credit upset his more fancied rivals to land the Three at on Thursday night.

The son of Outa Credit and Where Are You ( – Duel's Me Mum) led from pillar to post, stopping the clock at 29.91 in an imperious 2 1/4 length victory.

After spearing the lids from box two, the red brindle dog quickly beat off his rivals and registered a first section of 5.57 in front of Chant (5) and his littermate Outa Tempo (8).

By the time the field headed into the back straight, the 31kg dog was the better part of three lengths clear and already looking a solid winning hope.

His two main rivals, Farmor Las Vegas (1) and Happy Haswell (4) had both began poorly and found themselves in a lot of trouble. Even when the run did present itself they had problems getting away from each other.

Give You Credit finished off the race solidly with a 12.83 run home to secure the $25,000 winners . Farmor Las Vegas finally saw some daylight late to grab second placing with Cyndie's Special (6) also doing her best work late to finish third.

The win was Give You Credit's 10th from 38 starts and pushed his career earnings to just shy of $60,000.

I was lucky enough to talk to Peter Ruetschi about the Outa Credit – Where Are You litter for ARG back in April and the success has continued.

The litter has now raced a total of 249 times for 61 winners and earnings in excess of $215,000, a record emphasised by the fact that the greyhounds are just 31 months old.
