AGRA’s Run of the Month for January 2010 has been awarded to freakish New South Wales sprinter Goodesy. In an extraordinary performance the John Finn trained super star recorded a new track record over the 515 metres at the Bulli on January the 20th, he took out the Linmick Distributors Mixed Stake in a devastating 28.38.
The run completely obliterating the old Bulli 515 metre record that had stood at 28.79 held by Princess Bale and set on the 30th of September 2007. Titanium Paddy led to the first section in a fast 12.17 only 1/100th outside that sectional record before Goodesy took over powering away to record a second sectional record of 21.79. The previous record of 22.03 has stood since April 2005 to the credit of November Louis.
The speed machine raced away up the Bulli straight to win by eleven and a quarter lengths running that blistering time of 28.38 smashing the old record by more than the equivalent of six lengths.
Since that gob-smacking run Goodesy trialled a sensational 29.63 at Wentworth Park last Monday night in preparation for a return to headquarters. He completed the exercise last Saturday in a best of night hollow victory by seven lengths in 29.74.
Those flying efforts, along with his runaway win in the Group Two Cyril Rowe Gold Plate at Bulli on January 13th, look to ensure the son of former Wentworth Park record-holder Collision a very bright 2010.
Goodesy is a Black dog whelped November 2007 by Collision from Frosty Fruits (Just The Best x Reckless Abandon). He is raced by R Barwick & P Pittorino and trained by John Finn.
Goodesy has raced 16 times for 12 wins and two placings while his stake earnings stand at $42,820.
As usual there were some outstanding runs recorded in January with fast times on both city and country circuits all over Australia. However it is not often we witness a record smashed in the manner in which the Bulli 515 record was broken.
This month a special mention must be given to the unlucky Ruff It after he lowered the Ipswich 431 metre record of 24.76 set by Reliability 14 years ago. Some months it is very hard to win the AGRA Run of the Month.
AGRA congratulates owners R Barwick & P Pittorino, trainer John Finn and Goodesy on being judged the AGRA Run of the Month for January 2010.
