AGRA’s first Greyhound of the Month for 2009 is New South Wales owned and Victorian trained stayer Gunnadoo Magic.
A model of consistency throughout 2008 she has started the year in career best form winning five races on end including two group features. She won the Group 3 West End Distance Title at Angle Park and for the second year in succession the Group 2 Maidment Memorial at Sandown Park.
Gunnadoo Magic commenced the year with a win at Angle Park in a heat of the West End Distance Title on January the 1st.
This followed a best of the night performance at Cannington on December 27th.
She came back to Angle Park for the final on January 8th and defeated Others Quoted in 43.15.
Back in Victoria she contested the Maidment Memorial a Group 2 event she won last year and againm this year she was successful winning the heat on January 22nd and the final leading all the way in 42.37.
Gunnadoo Magic will be set for the Zoom Top invitational at the Meadows on February 14th.
In a very competitive month Gunnadoo Magic edged out Group one winners El Galo, Fedex and Lilley Criminal plus Group two winners, Stoner Bale, Major Mission and Miss Elly Mint for the monthly award.
Gunnadoo Magic is raced by Ben Howe and trained by Rob Britton while in Victoria, she is a blue bitch whelped February ’05 by Token Prince from Go Shoopa (Awesome Assassin x Terrific Time).
Her career stats stand at 64 starts for 26 wins and 18 placings and with the first prize of $25,000 for the Maidment Memorial took her prizemoney earnings to $230,805.
