AGRA’s Run of the Month for April 2011 has been awarded to come from behind New South Wales sprinter He Knows Uno. He won the award for his extraordinary performance when he ran down High Earner in a semi-final of the Easter Egg on April 16th.
It was a run we have become use to from the flying Northern Rivers sprinter. Never one to begin quickly the hard chasing son of Primo Uno was back last on settling, then scouting wide around the outside at the first turn he started to make ground.
Entering the back straight he railed hard and went to mid field making ground the leaders. Racing into third coming around the home turn, he took off after High Earner and with giant strides the fast finishing Black dog ate up the ground arriving right on the line to win by a half head.
He Knows Uno went into the Easter Egg final a week later and again came from last early to race his way through the outstanding field and finish a creditable second albeit eight lengths behind the dominate winner Radley Bale. It will be interesting to see where his career takes him as he appears to have some staying ability which he may branch into later on.
He Knows Uno is a black dog whelped December 2008 by Primo Uno from Honeymoon’s Over (Brett Lee x Divorce Remorse) he was bred and is raced and trained by Mick & Lillian Patterson from Iluka on New South Wales Northern Rivers. He has raced 27 times for 12 wins and six placings, and his overall stake earnings stand at $156,385.
As usual there were some outstanding runs recorded in April but He Knows Uno got the nod for his outstanding performance running down a greyhound the calibre of High Earner and a quality field in a semi of the Group 1 Easter Egg.
AGRA congratulates owner-trainer-breeders Mick & Lillian Patterson and He Knows Uno on being judged the AGRA Run of the Month for April 2011. He joins the previous winners for 2011 Victorian sprinter Enry Walt, stayer Bobby Boucheau and Queenslander Bogie King.
