High Earner Is Australia’s Greyhound Of The Month For February 2011
AGRA's Greyhound of the Month for February 2011 is Superstar Queensland sprinter High Earner. In February not only did High Earner win two Group 1 sprint events but he also became the highest stake winner in the history of Australian greyhound racing when he broke Rapid Journey's 12 year old record of $530, 995.
In a memorable month High Earner also became the first sprinter to win two Perth Cup's. He scoring his first Group 1 success in last year's final for his owners and trainer Dave and Christine Robartson only to go back to back this year for leading Victorian mentor Kel Greenough. In a carbon copy of last year's win he jumped straight to the front and gave the classy field a lesson in power sprinting.
Two weeks later in the Group 1 Temlee invitational jumping from box seven, High Earner sped to the early lead and gave nothing else a chance, streaking clear to win in a Best of Night 29.73, after sensational splits of 5.08 and 17.66. The brilliant black chaser finished three and a half lengths clear of Perfect Fancy while reserve Up And Away was a further length and a quarter away in third.
To finish the month off unbeaten he recorded another top class win last Saturday night in his heat of the Australian Cup in another faultless display High Earner again led all way to record the fastest heat win of the night 29.83. He goes into this Saturday night final as the greyhound to beat and perhaps take his prizemoney to the unthinkable $712,000.
