My Bro Fabio Demolishes 2014 Group Three Canberra Cup Field

My Bro Fabio capped off a superb Sunday for Lara trainer Brooke Ennis. The 35kg chaser took out the Group Three Canberra Cup while just a few hours earlier Ennis’ recent kennel acquisition, Size Does Matter, won the Group Two Healesville Cup.

Turning to Canberra, My Bro Fabio (2) went to the boxes as the red-hot $1.40 favourite and he didn’t disappoint. After being mid-field away he showed explosive pace down the back to overhaul early leader Another Call (3) and win by an extending margin of 10 and a half lengths. He couldn’t better his track record run from the heats but still stopped the clock at a very slick 30.10. Runners trained by Jodie Lord filled the minors with Cawbourne Whip (8), who was considered the main danger to the favourite prior to the race, nabbing Another Call just before the post to take second place by a head.

My Bro Fabio, a black chaser by Turanza Bale and Flamenco (Where’s Pedro – Zarbo) now joins his brother Warrior King as a group race winner. My Bro Fabio is now the winner of 17 races from 36 starts. The $25,000 prizemoney pushes his career earnings past $100,000.
