Prankster carried that solid form into his heat of the 1000 and looked impressive with a commanding win first up on the Hobart track recording 26.34 on December 10th.
As luck came his way he drew extremely well in the final coming up with box one. He jumped to the front on box rise and stayed there. Pressure came from the favourite Silent Guardian but when the Darren McDonald-trained dog was squeezed out of the action nearing the top turn. Prankster proved too strong when it counted, digging deep when the pressure was applied to hold out all comers over the concluding stages.
Prankster went on to defeat NSW representative Hurricane Luke by over a length with the Graeme Bate-trained Gripen Bale only a neck astern third.
Time for final was a fast 26.05 after sections of 5.08 and 11.15, a top run on the rain affected track.
Prankster is raced by Richard Lynch and is trained by Rob Britton at Lara in Victoria. He is a Black dog whelped April 2007 by Bombastic Shiraz from Classy Alice (Awesome Assassin x Alice Dooley) in his career so far he has raced 30 times for 13 wins and nine placings his overall stake earnings stand at $122,415.
December was packed with a number of group races and it was a very competitive month, it was a difficult decision, however given the quality of the Hobart 1000 final Prankster just got the nod as this month’s Greyhound of the Month. He beat other Group 1 & 2 winners Mr. Metz, Mantra Lad and Dyna Lachlan.
AGRA congratulates Richard Lynch, Robert Britton & Prankster on being awarded the AGRA Greyhound of the Month for December. He joins Amity Bale, Cindeen Shelby, Dyna Lachlan, Red Shilling, Trew Millions, High Earner, Mantra Lad, Dana Beatrice, Miss Slick, Gunnadoo Magic and Velocette as the AGRA Greyhound of the Month winners in 2009.
