AGRA’s Run of the Month for October 2008 has been awarded to Victorian sprinting old timer Proven Alias for his extraordinary performance of hard chasing when he won the Grade five final at Sandown on October 30th.
The veteran chaser had been off the scene injured since early June and returned on September 29th for a win at Shepparton followed by another at Ballarat in the best of the night 25.39. Both races were especially for veteran greyhounds that must be over four years of age, he was back at Sandown for an unplaced run on October 16. However the next week in his heat of the Rapidvite Grade five he recorded a brilliant win in another best of the night 29.88.
Back for the final and starting from box five he fell out and was last early but down the back he got going and smashed his way between runners to race away a brilliant winner in 30.08. Proven Alias was mentioned three times in the Stewards Report for collided soon after the start and on the third turn. Plus he checked off the heels of Garner entering the home straight. His outstanding effort of never say die chasing earning him the AGRA October run of the month.
Proven Alias is raced by the McGrath Syndicate and trained by Jason Thompson at Pearcedale in Victoria he is a Black dog whelped September 2004 by No Intent from Proven Booty (Awesome Assassin x Kobie Bale). Proven Alias has won 26 of his 66 starts and has been placed on 19 occasions and his current stake earnings stand at $93,785.
