With Australia’s richest ever prize for stayers on offer – $100,000 to the winner of the final – trainers from around Australia have rallied to nominate for the event.
Excluding the reserves drawn for the heats, the runners include:
- A combined $1.9 million in career stakes earnings
- 28 individual Group race finalists
- 79 Group race finals
- 8 individual Group race winners
- 14 Group race titles
- 11 interstate greyhounds representing every Australian state
“The Club is absolutely delighted by the response to this year’s Radio Sport 927 Sandown Cup series,” said Sandown Greyhound Racing Club Chief Executive Matt Corby.
“This is the first time $100,000 has been offered for a staying race, and to see greyhounds from around the country compete in the series helps reinforce the Sandown Cup’s position as the premier staying race in the nation.”
