Taipan Bale Claims April’s Run Of The Month

's Run of the Month for April 2009 has been awarded to Victorian sprinting star for his brilliant performance in winning a heat of the Cup at the Bendigo track on April 8th.

Starting a short priced favourite at $1.70 punters almost ripped up their tickets after the Graeme
Bate trained speedster was moderately away and soon in trouble checked off heals and back sixth.

“Taipan” made up some ground to be fourth and fifth but was checked again and looked anything but
a winning chance coming to the home turn. However his fierce chasing and overall ability kicked in
when the field straightened for the run to the judge.

He railed the ears off them flying home resolutely to record a mighty win taking his place in the final on the following Sunday.

Taipan Bale ($2.50 fav) went one better from his second in the 2008 MTD taking out
this year's $26,000 to the winner event. The black and white sprinter jumped only fairly from box
two, but showed impressive track sense to weave his way through the field to record a three length
win in a scintillating 23.73, around two lengths off the 23.61sec track record held by Slater.

and country circuits all over Australia. As always it was a difficult decision coming up with the AGRA
Run of the Month for April but Taipan Bale run was a beauty and full of merit.

AGRA congratulates owner Paul Wheeler trainer Graeme Bate and Taipan Bale on being judged the
