Bathurst To Be First NSW Track To Race With Finish On Lure
The NSW GHRRA has given approval to the GBOTA – Bathurst club to stage a TAB meeting on Wednesday 4th February 2009 under the NZ finish-on lure format.
All races on that program will finish-on to the lure and it is also to be noted that the Final of the Blue Paws 1-4 win series on February 11 will also be held under the same format.
The meeting will be the first ever in NSW under the alternative race finish format and comes after two successful trial periods which commenced on May 1 2008.
The progressive Bathurst club broke new ground in being the first club in NSW to trial under the NZ finish-on format and whilst support for the NZ concept was luke-warm initially, it has been gradually gaining momentum ever since.
Many other clubs in NSW are now set to follow suit and implement NZ finish-on trials as well as a couple in South Australia.
In fact our own Australian Racing Greyhound Poll provided similar results with 70% of respondants voting in favour of the finish on lure being used at all greyhound tracks, 8% of readers thought only at TAB tracks and 2% only at Non-TAB tracks. The end result being 80% of our readers where in favour of implementing the finish lure.
