Bathurst’s Huge Soldiers Saddle Carnvial Draws Near

's rich Soldier's Saddle carnival is just around the corner, from November 15 thru December 3.

The main feature of the carnival is of course the Bathurst RSL Soldiers Saddle which is restricted to greyhounds with 1 to 5 wins but no city wins (excluding maiden) over 520 metres.

Heats of the event are set down for the night meeting on Saturday November 15.

Four semi-finals will be held at the November 26 TAB fixture whilst the final which boasts a $5,000 winner's purse will take centre stage on the big December 3 TAB finals program.

The event also carries a $1,250 if the winner is eligible under the scheme.

Nominations close on Tuesday November 11 at 5.00 pm and a guarded blind draw applies.

There will also be a consolation final with a $1,500 first prize and sponsored by the Bathurst Branch for greyhounds placed third and fourth in the semis.

There are several other features being conducted over the carnival's eighteen day duration.

Whilst at the twilight Saddle semi-final TAB meeting (November 26) there will be two heats of the Harcourts Real Estate Trophy for fifth graders over 618 metres.

As mentioned earlier, all the finals along with numerous other features will be run on a gala twilight TAB fixture on Wednesday December 3.

Around $23,000 will be up for grabs on the program and it promises to be a great day of racing.

Apart from the Soldier's Saddle the remaining finals all carry a $1,000 winner's purse.
