Whilst box four would be tough to overcome for most greyhounds, the smart Dyna Nalin is still an excellent chance to win Saturday night’s $100,000 Maturity Classic at The Meadows due to his impressive ability to fly home from awkward draws.
Schroder Bale (box two), who was the fastest qualifier, is the $2.50 favourite, with Hoover Jack ($4.00), who will jump from the rails box and fight for the lead with Schroder Bale, the other main chance.
“Dyna Nalin was very impressive in his heat win from box six, coming home like a steam train after early interference. Obviously this is a final, but if he gets away cleanly he has the ability to run the leaders down,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
“In saying that, Graeme Bate has an excellent record of getting his dogs cherry ripe for big finals, so Schroder Bale could improve a length or two again. If he jumps on the bunny he’s going to be hard to run down.”
Marcus Joe ($7.50), Crump ($9.00), Hawk Alone ($14) and Langi Bale ($14) round out the market.
