Its been about a week since we have had fine weather here in Queensland. But today the sun is shining and the skies are clear, so it looks as if we will get a nice dry track for racing tonight at Albion Park, who have introduced a 395 meter race on a Monday night the last two weeks in a row. It's a bad decision if you ask me, but the super talented Maid For Ron looks a special in that race.
Albion Park Greyhounds Race 8 Box 1 Not Held 9.04pm
There is four dogs debuting over the 600 meter trip here tonight. Trex Fox, who is a son of champion stayer Miss Brooke, Abbey Corsair a daughter of freak stayer Dashing Corsair, Big Dac and my tip Not Held. Not Held is a top grade Albion Park Performer who has been racing the states best week in week out and has been finding the grade a bit much. The drop in class here is perfect and the step up in trip looks suitable for the son of Mogambo. He also loves the rail and has drawn box one here tonight.
From the red he should be able to punch through and it's quite possible he can lead, and if he does then i'd say that's the end of the race. He is pretty strong and shows every indication he can run out the 600 in at least 35.20. About $3.00 should be around for him, which is value at Sportingbet.
Hougenie looks the main danger but she has been unreliable at her last few, beginning fast on some occasions and slow on the others. If she does ping and go she will be super hard to reel in. She has posted a fast time of 35.15 here and on the bunny she can go quicker.
Angle Park Greyhounds Race 9 Box 7 Long Gully Surf 9,14pm
715 meter staying race here tonight and with the scratching of the likely favourite Kaylarikki it has opened up for Long Gully Surf. In a race that has little or no early pace, Long Gully Surf is the one to beat. Most of the field are get back and run on types and that will suit the very strong Long Gully Surf who has recorded a win here in 43.60. With the slow early pace he should be much much closer than usual to the bunny and that should make him a certainty. A couple of starts back he flew from the rear to win really well in fast time at Gawler. So expect him to be running over the top of these tonight.
Zara Mclaren is the main danger, but she is a non winner and struggles to get past the post first. Abdon Dale is the classiest runner but its been a while since he was at his best, he can win but god only knows when it will be. Surely his bad form cant continue for too much longer.
Long Gully Surf to win from boxes eight and five.
Grafton Greyhounds Race 3 Box 8 Pepi Katona 7.48pm
Completely forget the form of Pepi Katona, he is a very talented dog and has a big motor but its just been a while since he has performed. I don't know the reason why he is so out of form, but he surely cant keep running out of a place. He has to turn his form around and im sure it will be sooner rather then later. The biggest concern of all is he has only won the one start from 14 here and that's a major concern. He did however lead here last start and I reckon if he can get forward early and find the top he will keep going.
Punters should find odds of about $15.00 about the son of El Galo, so make sure you back him each way. Battlefront looks the main winner though and he has been very consistent and has raced well here last start when winning.
Launceston Greyhounds Race 5 Box 1 Frimpong 7.59pm
The former Victorian Frimpong has been going really well since moving to Tassie. The 500 meter trip wont be a problem and he has drawn the red box which will see him greatly aided. He has drawn wide boxes in his two starts here and has not had much luck. Box one should see him spring out and find the bunny from the get go. Once in front the looks capable of running quick enough to win this.
Box four runner Breaking the Law looks the main danger and he cant be overlooked. If he gets forward early and finds the top or near too he will be the one to beat. Take the exacta as both dogs look above the others.
Shepparton Greyhounds Race 7 Box 8 State Sensation 9.06pm
The talented State Sensation will be mighty hard to stop resuming here from a lay off. He is a high speed chaser who has a big motor when on song. Tonight's race is a bit short for the son of Elite State but he should find himself much more forward here in this fresh from a spell. If he jumps and gets a clear uninterrupted run early on he should be steaming down the outside in the run to the line.
