2015 Group 1 Hobart Thousand Heats- full tips and betting preview

SIX heats of the time honoured Group a Hobart Thousand (461 metres) will be held in the Apple Isle on Thursday night, with the series attracting some of the top sprinters from the mainland.

The headline of the heats is dual winner which heads to the track after capturing the Brisbane Cup last week, with the Andrea Dailly-trained powerhouse the $3 favourite with Bet365 to take out the $75,000-to-the-winner final on December 17.

Dyna Double One will exit box four in the final heat of the night which is set to jump at 9:58pm AEDT.

Also right in contention is Shared Equity ($5.50 to take out the series) which claimed last Friday's Group 2 Ballarat Cup (450 metres), defeating champion sprinter Fernando Bale in the process. The daughter of Brett Lee and West On Bluebird will jump from box seven in heat one against a talented field including Lemon Sunrise (box two), Rivergum Drive (box four) and Fantastic Mick (box six).

Last year's Hobart Thousand winner Above All resumes after an interrupted year of racing due to injury, but trialled well at the track last week and looks a serious chance in heat three. The Rob Britton-prepared greyhound is $1.85 to win his heat and $7 to take out the overall series.

The winner of each heat plus the two fastest seconds will progress through to next week's decider.

To help you find the winners Australian Racing Greyhound has comprehensively previewed each heat, with comments and tips by our resident form analyst, Brad Bugeja.

Great lineup to kick off the series and it's hard to go past the recent Group Two Ballarat Cup winner in Shared Equity ($1.75 with Bet365). Last week she flew out again and she was always in control when capturing the final and beating an all star lineup. She is taking another quality lineup tonight and having her first look at the track but there isn't a lot of speed around her, so if she does everything right at box rise, she should fire to the early lead and she will prove hard to reel in again.

Rivergum Drive ($3.65) had no luck in the Ballarat Cup final behind Shared Equity but he is just as talented as the favourite and he only requires some luck in running. He will get back in the initial stages but he does possess a dazzling turn of foot mid race and he just needs to find the rail to be a factor.

Tecoma Emily ($10) is the local star and she has won here previously in a breathtaking 25.76. Her last couple of runs have been disappointing but if she finds her best she can cause an upset.

Lemon Sunrise ($8) and Next Matador ($17) are both in form and they must also be respected at odds.

I've Got You ($2) has always shown a lot of talent and two starts back she really put it all together with a dazzling 25.94 win here. On that occasion she stepped from the yellow and she always appeared to be travelling. From the pink draw tonight she should get every chance to balance up and if she settles in the top three she should prove too strong for her rivals.

See Blue's Girl ($2.45) has won nine of 16 to date and six of her past eight. Last time out she led for a long way but was reeled in late by my top pick. She should get every chance to lead again and if the pink finds early bother she could steal the event.

Locknane Eve ($10) is a little hit or miss early but she can run serious time when she pings. If she goes around at silly odds, she could be worth an each way ticket.

Lillycette ($5) rounds out the chances, she is better known as a stayer but she can sprint well and she only needs a clear passage in the first 100m.

Above All ($1.85 with Bet365) is the reigning champ here and after all the injuries, he showed he is still more than capable with a blistering 25.85 trial here last week. He is the current track record holder here as well and although he isn't the best of beginners, he does muster speed quite well and he is capable of working his way through a field. This heat isn't overly strong and he should get every chance to make another Group 1 final.

Prescribe ($4) is one of the stronger local hopes and he has hit peak form at the right time. Three starts ago he ran the hands off the clock at Devonport with an eye popping 25.13 win and if he can reproduce that type of run, he will take it right up to the favourite.

Tricky Tails ($5) has the good draw and he has won five on end. I don't think he can win this heat but he does hit the line hard and he could sneak into some minor money.

Aces And Angels ($5) is a gun NSW speedster and although he is better suited to a rails draw, he still needs to be respected.

Bearville Azza ($2.80) is a serious talent and after running a great race to finish fourth in the Group 1 final, he trialled around this circuit in a blistering 25.88. Before travelling to Victoria he kicked off his career here and he had a record of four wins from four tries over this track and trip. He has been beginning a lot better in recent weeks, so if he does everything right at box rise he should be in the firing line for most of the journey and he should prove too strong.

Big Ticket ($2.80 with Bet365) has an enormous motor and if he can do everything right in the initial stages he should be right there at the end. He trialled here in a very zippy 25.91 last week and prior to that he posted scorching wins at and Geelong over similar distances. The box draw isn't great but he does muster speed quickly and he should make an impact.

Fantastic Spiral ($4) is better from an inside draw but he can run serious time when on the lure and he was placed in the Group 1 Brisbane Cup final last week.

Kalispell ($10) rounds out the chances, he isn't the most gifted chaser but he has the right draw and he rarely runs a bad race.

Breakers Tip ($3) has been one of the best and most reliable chasers in the state for the past 12 months and from the red draw he should get every chance to make the final. He is normally a very good beginner and he has the wide running Unlawful Entry drawn on his outside, so he should be afforded all the breaks in the run to the first turn.

To The Galo's ($13) has an enormous engine and if he gets the right gaps after the start he could cause an upset. I'm hoping he misses the kick a little and that should allow him to get a rails run as the two moves off the track. He broke the track record two runs back, so he is more than capable of matching it in this company.

Over Limit ($2.40) is an out and out superstar when fit and he has returned to racing in fine style. The box draw is a little against him but with some luck in the first 50m he can make an impact.

Amaro Bale ($8.50) is another very honest type and he is coming off a luckless run in the Ballarat Cup final, he has speed to burn and he could run a big race at odds.

Unlawful Entry ($4) was placed in the Ballarat Cup Final and he must be respected, however he is poorly drawn and I'm happy to risk him in this.

Dyna Double One ($1.35) is absolutely airborne at present and realistically only bad luck will beat him. He is taking on an average lineup and in his past four starts he has won the Group 1 Melbourne Cup and Brisbane Cup. Fingers crossed he can ping the lids as it will be interesting to see what he can put .

Reginald Benz ($8) is well drawn nearer the inside and two starts back he set the track alight at Devonport with an eye popping 25.21 victory. If he can turn in a similar effort tonight he should make the champ work hard for victory.

Local View ($10) has a great record here and the wide draw should suit, he will be big odds but he is capable of finishing in the money.

Hello Ay Jay ($7) rounds out the chances, he musters speed very quickly and he should be in the firing line for most of the journey.
