Addington greyhound tips, odds & quaddie | June 1, 2023
Greyhound racing on a Thursday evening is once again held at Addington, with 12 races carded on what should be an action-packed programme. The first kicks off at 4:12pm (NZST).
Best Bet: Mrs Chinn (Race 7)
Mrs Chinn was back in winning form last week over the sprint trip of 295m — and what a win it was when she blasted out of the boxes first and then ran away and hid over the final stages, stopping the clock at a tick under 17 seconds. She is probably a bit more suspect over the middle distances, but from this draw she should have a big enough lead down the back straight to be able to hang on, as she did three starts back against similar company. Her only real threat is likely to come from her kennelmate Sefton Heights, who has to overcome a wider draw and any traffic first.
Next Best Bet: Opawa Linda (Race 9)
Opawa Linda blotted her copybook last time out when finishing sixth off a wide draw. She was unable to cross them early and when they’re breaking 30 seconds you have to be close to the early speed to have any chance. She gets a lovely swing in the draws and should have no problem crossing the red rug early. She also has a vacant box to her outside and should get all the room she needs to find the lead before the first bend. There will be heat from wider out in the form of her kennelmates Opawa Superstar and Rapaki Rocks, and it will be a case of whomever crosses first will probably win, but there is confidence that Opawa Linda can win that early battle.
Best Value Bet: Opawa Emma (Race 4)
Opawa Emma is downgrading from racing against Class 4-5 fields into a straight Class 3 field and could be the forgotten greyhound. She has been making slower-than-normal starts recently but does finally get a more suitable draw closer to the rails and should hear the lure more clearly. She is a strong finishing greyhound when she stays in touch with the field and her opposition, apart from Nail It to her immediate outside, is lacking in much recent form. She should be at some value and is one to side with in an even line-up.
