Addington greyhound tips & value bets | Thursday, June 8
Greyhound racing on a Thursday evening is once again being held at Addington, with a 12-race card kicking off at 4:39pm (NZST). Read on to see our best bets, value picks and quaddie selections.
Best Bet: Gitan (Race 8)
The Ladies Bracelet is the feature of the evening, worth $7,500 and run over 520m. Gitan was rather disappointing fresh over the sprint trip of 295m last month, finishing at the rear of the field after botching the start. It was an out-of-character effort and is best forgotten, as her form prior suggests. She has broken 30 seconds over this distance on multiple occasions and her PB would have her winning this race by a wide margin. The Faheys will have her back in top shape, and as one of the only true Class 5 greyhounds in the field, she should have too much on them.
Next Best Bet: River Rouge (Race 1)
River Rouge has rediscovered his best form recently, going back-to-back with all-the-way wins in good times for winter racing. He has won twice from five starts coming out of this box, and although he is up in class, the field he is facing is out of form. The greyhounds to his immediate inside and outside are usually slow trappers, so he is expected to get all the room he needs early on. Stick with him to complete the hat-trick.
Best Value Bet: Centurion (Race 10)
The staying feature on the card looks like a Fahey benefit, as the top kennel has four of the six runners and all have sound winning prospects. Centurion can be quite frustrating at times, as when he is on he looks like a world beater and then just as easily he can let you down. He gets an empty box to his immediate inside, which should allow him to cross over in front early with that extra room to move. The key to this greyhound appears to be him spotting the lure early, and if he can this evening, then he can take them all the way.
