Albion Park greyhounds

is set to host 12 races on Thursday night from 6:47pm local time, with four cracking heats of the 2023 Brisbane series on display. Top two in each heat qualify for next week's 3 final, which could potentially be a mouthwatering lineup with the likes of Blue Hornet, Bear's Bullet, Locked On Scotch and Refulgent all on show here.

Best Bet: Blaze Duck (Race 1)

Blaze Duck is looking to go one better after finishing the bridesmaid at his first Albion Park outing. The one-year-old son of has started his career off in good style running second on debut and scoring his first win in the maiden final at Ipswich over the 520m. His effort last week at Albion Park had plenty of merit. Jumping from box seven, he was able to cross rivals drawn low and find the front. parked right on his hammer and was the stronger of the two over the concluding stages going onto score in 30.30s. Blaze Duck has found a similar novice to last week and draws the rails which will be majorly beneficiary to his chances. Given he can run the first two sectionals in 5.57/11.79 he will be able to hold the rails, front and be very difficult to run down.

Next Best Bet: Shaye (Race 4)

Jedda Cutlack will have favoured runners going into the opening events on the program and none more so than who was scintillating last week. Jumping from box one, Shaye shanghaied straight to the front from box one and led throughout to score by just under a length in 35.00s. The best feature of her race was the speed she showed throughout the first two sections recording 9.74/21.67s. A repeat of these early splits will have her easily cross and Hara's Pearl drawn inside and she should be able to find the front. Given she does this, she will be better for the run last week and be ultimately tough to run down. Fastest qualify, fastest dog and best mapped dog in this race should hold her in good stead.

Best Value: Cobblepot (Race 7)

Third heat of what's set to be a cracking Young Gun Series brings a lot of interest, appearing of great value. His career has been a picture of consistency winning 12 from 36 and adding a further 16 placings meaning he has finished in the top three 28 from 36 starts which is terrific for a dog who runs over an array of distances at all three main tracks in QLD. He hasn't necessarily wowed at the Albion Park 520m to date but appears to get his best chance tonight. He draws lovely with Go Bears outside him who was tardy to leave the boxes on his Albion Park return last week as well as fellow NSW dog, Half Past Tipsy who can begin sharply and head straight to the rails. This should allow Cobblepot to idle up outside this runner and with his track familiarity, race more tractable and put him to the sword. There's a good chance the favourite, drawn the red could be shuffled three back the rails which would make it very difficult to win.
