Race 1 – 520M Novice – 6.44pm
The first is always a tricky affair at Albion on a Thursday night. Maddiarna for trainer Sandra Hunt is the top pick. She won her maiden in 30.31 here last start and that will be quick enough to win this tonight easily. She has enough early toe to lead and should go all the way. I thought Big Yellow Taxi’s run last week was solid and she can improve again to run second. Pilgrim’s Prince has the inside box and that may be enough to see him place. Shot of Fear is well boxed outside and should get a great run.
Top Four Selections: 4 – 5 – 2 – 7
Race 2 – 520M Novice – 7.05pm
Another tough affair, with a few winning chances. Cyclone Clifford is well boxed and should get the run of the race. He was fair last week and tonight’s race is much easier. Yes Does is a handy chaser and deserves second pick, but the box may beat him tonight. Tru Ryder is a better than his form suggests, keep him very safe. Highlife is a speedy chaser, but I’m not sure she’s ready for 520m just yet.
Top Four Selections: 1 – 7 – 8 – 6
Race 3 – 520M 5th Grade – 7.22pm
A 5th grade here and it doesn’t get any easier then the first two races. Pay Sheet on form has to be the top pick. The box could beat him tonight though so play it safe. Boardies looks as if he can win a Thursday night race and he’ll get his chance tonight. Shania Sind was far from disgraced here last week in a tough race and if she can get forward early she could pinch it. Crimson Tide is well boxed and handy, so keep her safe. Ferrera and last weeks novice winner Say Sayonara could also show up.
Top Four Selections: 5 – 2 – 4 – 1
Trifecta: Rove 5 with runners 1,2,4,7
Race 4 – 520M 5th Grade – 7.41pm
Grand Roman is good quality chaser who should come into his own sooner rather then later. He’s already a winner here in 29.92 and from the red he’s likely to start a solid $1.80 favourite. As long as he comes away with them expect him to win. Flick Pass is a danger but his chances rely on Grand Roman making a mistake. Farmer’s Gold is a dog with a huge motor, but he bounces up and down in the boxes like a trampoline jumper and more often than not is left a mile behind at the start. The box suits him and if he gets it right he’ll come home like a train and really threaten. Galway Tornado can begin quickly and find herself in clear room to hold on for a place.
Top Four Selections: 1 – 4 – 8 – 5
Race 5 – 520M 5th Grade – 8.05pm
Kidatee Croc is owned by well known and fearless hobby punter of the Northern Rivers region Shawn Speeding and looks a great hope in this. He’s been flying of late and last start stopped the clock in a fast 30.05 at his first go here. He’s speedy early and only has to beat one dog, Abby’s Fantasy. Abby’s Fantasy is a quality chaser who loves it here and will appreciate the draw. Melody Serenade is another who will be well supported, but box five will make it tough. High And Mighty races well here and will run on at the end of the race.
Top Four Selections: 2 – 3 – 5 – 7
Race 6 – 520M 4th/5th Grade – 8.25pm
Captain Cess is my on top pick for this and is a pretty good dog who we should see a lot more of in the future. He looks well suited by the outside box and should come out and work his way over. Stealthy Mark was good here last start at his first attempt, so expect him to improve. Don’t Josh Me is a interesting runner, he has won in fast time at Ipswich and if he brings that form here he’ll go close. Outa Tempo is always there about in his races and should show up. Doc Graham has a motor along with Super Velo. Azza Buzz is well drawn, but this is a tough race so play it safe.
Top Four Selections: 6 – 5 – 2 – 3
Race 7 – 520M 4th Grade 8.44pm
Super Hard race with many hopes and I’ll stick with the box one runner Winged Elite. He returned to some form a couple of starts back and now he’s drawn the red he should improve further at a solid price. You can Talk is racing super at the present so expect her to be there at the business end. Tear Away Size will get room to move and show her best. King Elliot improved a bit last week and can run fourth.
Top Four Selections: 1 – 5 – 8 – 7
Race 8 – Best 8 520m – 9.08pm
Box one should see Captain Clarrie return to the winners circle with luck. He’s the best drawn runner of the better hopes and should fire up. If Yogi Blue can jump and run look out because he’s a great dog on the bunny and can’t be ruled out. Not Held is racing with great vigour at the moment and he should put in. Honey Bouquet is a great chaser and gives her all. Cyndie’s Special will give backers a good sight if she gains a clear run and could be the knockout dog.
Top Four Selections: 1 – 3 – 7 – 4
Suggested Bet: Win bet on Captain Clarrie
Race 9 – 520M 5th Grade – 9.28pm
Swift Opulence looks like she can bounce back to her best here and win this. She doesn’t go all that well here but looks the on top pick. Line Up Buoys will enjoy the drop in grade and looks a real threat if he pings. Trav’s Fantasy and Rainbow Rex look the best of the rest.
Top Four Selections: 3 – 4 – 5 – 2
Race 10 – 5th Grade 600M – 9.58pm
Box one should be the key factor here for Fine Cotton. She loves the rails and is racing in good form again. With a little luck she can run over the top of them. Are Ate is is dazzling form and should spear the lids and take running down. Abbey Corsair has a huge motor but will need luck. Rumble Street is very moody but gets her chance.
Top Four Selections: 1 – 4 – 6 – 2
Suggested Bet: Win bet on Fine Cotton
