Australian Greyhound Racing Tips For Saturday 5th February 2011

Australian greyhound racing tips for Saturday 5th February 2011 with selections from Warrnambool greyhounds (Victoria), The Meadows greyhounds (Victoria), and Cannington greyhounds (West Australia).

Todays greyhound meetings are very light on with both The Gardens (New South Wales), Richmond (New South Wales) and Wentworth Park greyhounds (New South Wales) abandoned due to the hot weather.

The highlight of tonight's greyhound racing is the running of the 2011 1 Perth Cup and 2011 Group 1 at Cannington greyhounds. Peter Oliver has excellently previewed both the 2011 Galaxy and 2011 Perth Cup, and both are well worth a read.

Warrnambool Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 1 – Mission Complete – 7:09pm Vic time

The Michelle Mallia Magri trained Mission Complete has had just the three career starts for 2 wins and a 3rd. The son of Superman and Cacheci opened his account running third at The Meadows, running in 30.99 then won a maiden here at Warrnambool in 25.84 from box 1. Miraculously the young dog again drew box 1 in the maiden final, winning in 25.63 by 5 lengths. Amazingly at his 4th start Mission Complete gets his third box 1 draw with his only other start being off box 2. Still improving, he should have no problems accounting for this field and obviously already knows the way around from box 1.

The Meadows Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 1 – Dodgey Stu – 10:20pm Vic time

Dodgey Stu, the young greyhound is under the very good care of Michael Carter and has so far had 4 starts for 3 wins. After winning a maiden heat and final at in 26.00 and 25.99 from boxes 3 and 4, he ran seventh here at The Meadows, having no luck from box 8. Back to Shepparton for a flying 25.37 win from box 6 and has box 1 here tonight. Based on his last start 25.37 win at Shepparton this dog has a very bright future and prepared to forgive the one failure here. Much better boxed tonight and should acquit himself well.

Cannington Greyhounds – Group 1 Perth Cup Final – Race 6 – Box 3 – Kilty Lad – 8:42pm WA time

Impossible to go past who is arguably Australia's best greyhound racing at the moment. Comes in to the final after looking beaten several times in the run in last weeks heat, but still managed to find a way to win, which is the mark of a champion. Looking to cross the $340,000 barrier in prizemoney now after winning the 2011 Group 1 , 2011 Group 1 Silver Chief and 2010 Group 3 Young Stars Classic here at Cannington. The Kellie Bravo trained greyhound has also made the finals of the 2010 Group 1 and 2010 Group 3 SA Derby. The most greyhound in the race and undefeated at this track, a win in this $140,000 to the winner final would only be fitting. Best dog in the race, loves this track, well boxed – winner.

Cannington Greyhounds – Group 1 Galaxy Final – Race 7 – Box 7 – Bobby Boucheau – 9:120pm WA time

If Kilty Lad is the obvious pick in the Perth Cup due to his proven class, then we are going with potential for our pick in the Galaxy, Australia's second richest staying event. “The Waterboy” or Bobby Boucheau has been on many a good judges watch list since a storming maiden win at The Meadows in 2010 in 30.83. It wasn't the time he ran that day but they way he won, coming from last to win easily in the end. A feat which is not easy at The Meadows. The veteran of just 15 starts now, he has won 9 and been placed in 3 and made the final of the 2010 Group 1 Cup running third behind Symmetry. Created a huge impression on this track last week running a super time of 41.54 from back in 4th early, which was phenomenal given it was his first start at a distance of more than 650m. Will be improved by the run last week and the look at the track. Potential staying super star who is ideally suited by this track.
