Looks an intriguing race on paper, with a mix of speed and strength.

Zipping Lady (2) and Brolly Bale (5) look the likely leaders, with the latter capable of running scorching times out on the lure. He has had five runs over the middle trip and comes into this event on the back of a decent third over the track and trip last start. He led for a long way in that race and was unlucky to run into the airborne Reefton Treasure, with his finishing time of 34.21 very slick in being beaten. Box five is never an advantage, but he is armed with the pace to offset the poor draw and if he can skip away he is more than capable of causing an upset.

Buck Forty (3) is the class runner of the field and if this was a he would probably beat any other dog in this field easily. However, he does find himself with seven other dogs for this race with the concern being his box manners. He should get every opportunity to get a relatively nice run into the race on the outside of a speedy beginner, but he will have to avoid traffic here to salute.

He's A Boomer (1) has been racing well of late for Kel Greenough and should get a nice run if he can hold his spot on the fence.

Amigo (7) is currently in flying form, but may find it hard to cross from box seven against this lot.

Zipping Lady (2) is also racing well and must be respected despite the sharp rise in class.

Suggested bet: WIN bet on Brolly Bale at $7 with Crownbet

I really wanted to tip Dundee Osprey (8) to win this race – he is such a reliable dog and he excels over the track and trip at Sandown Park – however I have decided to go with the up-and-comer Big Flood (1). The Jason Thompson-trained prospect has won seven of his eight starts in scorching fashion including a last start 29.26 win at Sandown Park. He appears well drawn in the one and with very little pace on his direct outside he should be able to push up and take the early lead.

If Dundee Osprey is at his best we will be in for a real treat, with the three-time winner second up from a short freshen up following his Sale Cup (650m) victory last month. He wasn't well suited first up when running fourth in a heat of the Group 2 Warragul Cup, but he is back at the course he loves here and he will take beating if he can replicate his 29.11 personal best.

Rippin Hayne (3) is a quality greyhound and he showed he is still capable of mixing it with the best when winning stylishly at two runs back. Finds himself in a hot field for this race, but he does race well at Sandown.

Elleni Banner (5) does her best racing out in front and that is unlikely to happen here from the horror draw, but she is a fast bitch and must be included in the exotics.

Suggested bet: WIN bet on Big Flood at $2.50 with Bet365
