It's been a long time coming but the Healesville Cup winner Frosty Jay Jay steps up to the 600 metre trip here tonight. The son of Knocka Norris is a strong runner who just hasn't been beginning as well as he can of late. Box four isn't great, and even more so when they start on a bend. I'm hoping he drops out early and gets a nice run in behind the early leaders. There is some talented types engaged in this so he should be a backable proposition. As long as the punters don't go silly he should start at about $3.50 and if this was a 520 metre race id say he'd be even money and the 600 metres looks right up his alley, so should he win I expect he'll run fast time, somewhere around the 35.10 mark.

Angle Park Greyhounds Race 7 Box 4 Tia Belle, 7.39pm
I'm going to back Tia Belle here tonight and hope they jam up behind her. The daughter of Drink Driver who was a top flight SA dog, has tremendous early toe and lets rip as soon as the lids fly open. Problem is she struggles over the last bit. She has stopped the clock here in 30.22 and that's not a bad effort, and a time that often wins races. With six attempts here she's managed four placings.
Tonight's race isn't all that strong, but box one runner Long Gully Mags is drawn to perfection and should run on very strongly. Tia Belle looks the early leader and as long as she's $5.00 or better I think she's worth the punt. Early speed is a major asset and there will come a time where she skips away as they jam up. Long Gully Mags could be the safe bet because she'll get a lovely run early up the fence and will look to swoop as they round the home turn. If Tia Belle can ping and go like she can, it looks a great boxed exacta bet.
Box five runner Punisher Bale could be the smokey, he's only slow early but he'll miss all the trouble and if the front runners come together expect him to be rattling home late.
