Greyhound racing best bets – Tuesday October 24, 2017
Horsham R5 No.7 Moyarra Eclipse: To The Galo’s should start favourite but I am not too keen to jump on three days after being run down at The Meadows. He tired badly in the closing stages and it is a big ask to drop back in distance and win here after that type of run. Settled on Moyarra Eclipse which should sprint well fresh first up from a month off. He has good early pace and has won over the distance here before.
Gosford R4 No.4 Lord Jack: Has been crying out for the 600 for a long time and finally steps up tonight. Has drawn awkwardly, but I expect him to slip into second or third spot in the early stages and if he is within a few lengths of Megaladon I think he is good enough to run her down. He is currently around the $3.50 mark with a few bookies – that’s about his right price against this field.
Lismore R7 No.3 Jury: Ultra-impressive when debuting here in 29.56 last week and it would be no surprise to see him go even quicker tonight. This race is loaded with early speed, but he is well boxed to find the front and if he can do so they won’t run him down.
Lismore R8 No.2 Sonic Thunder: Didn’t have much luck here last week in a heat of the Cup and is suited by a drop in class tonight. Box two brings him right into contention and he should be able to punch up towards the front early and prove too strong at the finish. He is a pretty classy dog – having won the Townsville Cup in September – and this is much easier than his most recent efforts.
